I am Marius de Groot, almost 70 years old, but still very active with gaming ( pc and consoles ) My wife and I like to play coop games like Baldur gate and games in that style. I own ps1/2/3 and snes/gameboys/nintendo ds/ nintendo 64 and of course a wii ( softmodded years ago ) On the PC i am just playing the old enemy territory game and in a clan. I picked up the wii again and want to make it the mainconsole to play on.

Nice to meet you! The Wii is my main living room console since my son was born. It is amazing how well it works with kids around. A softmoded wii like yours with an external HDD adds extra convenience as you never need to store/find disks.(even that in my case, it is a very messy set up, as my current TV dont take analog sinals, so I use a converter).
