I managed to find a super cheap CECHA launch model NTSC-J PS3 recently the only thing is the HDMI port does not work on it. Would any of the HDMI to PS2 adapters or cables be able to fix this issue?

I guess "fix" was the wrong word. I want to use HDMI over the A/V port of the PS3. I already have many PS3 cables but I want to use HDMI as the TV I use only has HDMI. I see there are some pretty cool solutions for the PS2 and want to know if they will work on PS3 as well.

@MrCokeacola I think you need a device like the ossc to convert the component signal to hdmi in a pretty lossless way.
You already have the official PS3 component cable so signal errors are not as likely even with 1080p if it is as good as the hdretrovision component cable I use.
It became a bit cheaper after Chinese manufacturers started to sell it so it is the best solution atm.
It also works for the PS2, it also supports 480p and 1080i which certain games support and even more with certain game specific cheats and a generic cheat which doesn't work as well though.

Huh I do need an excuse to buy an OSSC. I'm going to try one of those PS2toHDMI memes first cause it will only cost me 4 bucks and then go from there.

The PS2 to HDMI worked a treat outputting 1080p no problem. (shown on my newer fat not the backwards compatible one but both worked just the same)

@MrCokeacola Interesting, I have one of those cheap rebranded HDMI adapters as well and for me it crashes with anything above 480p.
With my PS2 the HDMI had a lot of noise, maybe they released a better version.
