then theres something wrong on your end. It cant be false if mine literally updated when I launched it right before my eyes..... on 2 different 3ds
404 means file not found on server. It can't be on my end. Send me an image showing your system version as well as an image showing the HBL open. Also tell me what exploits you are using or if you are using HBLauncher_loader.

If you update to the latest hourly Luma you can just rename the 11.2 payload file and it will work on 11.3.

Wat

How does that work?
Edit: It doesn't work, my friend.

Works just fine on my New 3DS on 11.3. I just booted the homebrew launcher and ran the 3dsx version of 3dsident a few seconds ago.

Step 1: Download this https://astronautlevel2.github.io/Luma3DS/builds/Luma-700d5727.zip and update Luma by replacing the .bin file with the one in the zip.
Step 2: Go here http://smealum.github.io/3ds/ and download the 11.2 otherapp payload for your 3DS (new/old and the correct region).
Step 3: Rename the otherapp payload to NEW-11-3-0-36-USA.bin/OLD-11-3-0-36-USA.bin (replace USA with EUR or JAP depending on your region and put it in SD:/hblauncherloader/

Im using the HBL that was installed as a CIA or launched directly from the 3ds menu on the latest 11.3 CFW and latest nightly luma
Although I didn't even have to rename the payload Smea had just released a new one last night that updates HBL upon launch. Trying to compile a small video for proof that HBL works now

No, there is no updated payload as holding down X while booting the CIA results in a 404 error (at least on my USA n3DS). Also, when you boot the hbl cia does it say hax 2.8 or hax 2.9? Because 2.9 is the one designed for 11.3.

mine is 2.8 and it works on 11.3

That is what mine is as well but I had to rename the 11.2 payload file as I got a 404 when trying to update via the hbl cia.

Here is a video https://filetrip.net/view?evPS6QhNWL showing hax 2.8 (the one Smea is working on for 11.3 is hax 2.9) working on 11.3 and here is a pic of what my SD:/hblauncher folder looks like. Notice the NEW-11-2-0-36-USA.bin and NEW-11-3-0-36-USA.bin files are identical. The reason HBL is working now is because one of the hourly Luma updates restored gspwn (by stubbing out svc 0x59).

Thanks ... run perfectly for me

So basically people with luma just needs to update to the latest nightly build to launch HBL. Thats really the only thing I did prior to updating other homebrew apps.
Guess ppl can stop panicking about updating to the latest fw under luma that is

I think I'll wait for @smealum to confirm that this works. Smea?

Yes, but since there is no 10.3 payload they will also have to manually rename the 11.2 payload file in SD:/hblauncherloader otherwise you will just get a 404 error when it tries to download the 11.3 payload and fails.

Except that Smea didn't have anything to do with this workaround, it was @TuxSH that is responsible for the stubSvcRestrictGpuDma patch. Smea is still busy finishing a "proper" fix that will work for people on OFW as well. But here is a video of *hax 2.8 running on 11.3 (the 11.3 payloads, which haven't been released yet, are *hax 2.9). https://filetrip.net/view?evPS6QhNWL
