If your having some trouble getting Wifi Tethering to work, you found the right guide.

After playing with my mom's new Lg Optimus, I have figured this out.

Go to the Market, and search Quick Settings. It's the Green Gear icon. Install it.

Open it, press the Customize button and find Wifi Tethering.

Drag it to the "non hidden" section.

Turn it on.

Go to the REAL settings and go to Wireless & Networks

Scroll down to Portable Hotspot and change the settings to how you please.

Enjoy.

thats pretty cool, i didn't test it but it seems to work fine, good to know of an alternate route to get it

Edit: actually all that it appeared to do is check the 3g Mobile Hotspot option in settings>wireless&network>3G mobile hotspot (i'm using a verizon fascinate [galaxy S])

also, when i try to just check it manually i get a notice about it costing me extra from verizon
