Hacking have i messed up FW flash?

ok so i have not used my DSIxl in a while and tried updating my AK via the downloads from

i popped the updates in ,my SD as usual and booted up, loading the 1st one (yes i loaded the DSi one not dsl) and did the update (pressed start then reset at prompt).

now i have the red ribbon icon instead of alex breaker one, and when i start up i get white screens, have i messed up the flash? its no big deal to get another AK if i have TBH, and i keep an old ds (the wifes pink one

) for updates and the likes of.

Sounds like you have an AK2i that is HW44. HW44 can not be updated with latest update because the hardware does not allow it. The new HW81 however is compatible with all updates.

If you're interested in fixing the HW44, you'll need another flashcard and the DSL Update for DSi 1.4.2 for that was the last update that worked with it. Run it on the alternate flashcard and when it asks to eject the current card, place in the HW44 AK2i. Of course, this method hopes that your DSi is 1.4.2 or below.

i'm just gonna get a new HW version and fix the old one for my wifes cousin

as she only has a normal DS.

i wish id read up more on the HW issue before hand but yeah live and learn LOL

i want to rewrite tk_saturn's stickie but i'm waiting to get permission from him. his update section is outdated and i fear it may be the reason many users are flashing the wrong file. however, a quick bit of research on acekard's official homepage would have told you that the hw44 card's can not currently be updated for the 1.4.3 fix.

run akaio. goto start > help. the flashing program will also tell you (ie: 4444 for HWID 44 and 8181 for HWID 81).
