So I have one piece of music and a small bit of that song made custom in my hack I'm making...
A few notes/questions

1: it's pretty funny, Deep Sea Girl, the song I'm overwriting, actually matches Megalovania pretty well, by complete coincedence..

2: so I put like .6 seconds of silence before the song starts, but that time doesn't happen at all, I think. How do I set the silence before the song?

3: is there a way to replace an animated pv with my own video? I don't mean the intro videos.

So unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to replace the in-song background videos with your own yet since they're all made up of seperate sprites and not videos.

For the music, the best way is to open the original song file with Audacity and find exactly where the audio starts and take note of exactly which second the starts at, then change the one you want to replace it with accordingly. Thag way you dont have to edit any text files.

If you want, you can send me the file you want to change and I can change it!

the bcstm file or mp3?

A while ago I tried using the blank YumeYume DSC over the finished one, and the camera glitched out for some reason.
Maybe DSC has some involvement over the camera? But the only thing I know it controls is the buttons that appear, lyric timing, and the line that the buttons appear on.

I know for sure that the DSC files control some aspects of the camera for sure. It does also control the buttons and general chart layout.

I asked Stewie and:

This isn't really related to Miku Hacking, but how does the whole ntr plugin "layeredfs" work? I think it means it loads a file from the sad instead of from the game, but do you program it to load specific files instead, or...?

It basically redirects the RomFS loading to a specific folder on the SD card. You could try OnionFS since it's a lot easier to use and you don't have to compile it, just put the modified files in SDMC:/OnionFS/<title ID>/romfs and put OnionFS.plg in SDMC/plugins/<title ID>

Since OnionFS wasn't working for me, I took an existing LayeredFS plugin and opened it in a hex editor, found the path it used, and changed it.

Ok, 1: why did onionfs not work for you? 2: do you have to put the entire romfs in the folder or just modified files?

Turns out, testing hacks just got a lot easier, Luma3DS now has built in LayeredFS support! just put a folder called titles in your luma folder than put the romfs in /luma/titles/(titleid)/romfs. it will patch it for you! also remember to turn on game patching in the config.

Awesome! I heard about that somewhere but never tested it yet. Definitely gonna use that!

it'll be way faster than before, having to reboot into ntr every single time. also, i think this means that combined with an FTP server, you wont ever have to turn off your 3ds to test and make changes to hacks!

Nice! This is gonna be so much faster :D
excited meters are off the charts lol. ive kinda been refraining from hacking much becuase with the way my computers are set up its a gigantic hassle to get anything done but with this, i might start doing it again :)

Quick question, have you got the DSC editor working? Whenever I try and save my edited chart as a DSC file, it throws an error and I end up with an empty 0kb DSC file that the game refuses to recognize.
