I'm not too sure about this, it kind of looks promising, but I don't want to use this plugin until I hear from someone who has it on there Vita and swears that it does what it's supposed to do. I didn't need this before, and probably don't need it now, but the vids I've seen about it look pretty substantial. If anyone can chime in on this I'd certainly appreciate the nod.

EDIT: I'm looking into this for the PS Vita, NOT a PSTV.

- Thank you!!!!

Yes, I used it. But it's mainly useful for playstation tv. The vita itself won't do much, besides force nearest neighbor instead of bilinear filter, changing the screen size of ps1 titles (something that's already possible without it) and vita games (again, possible with adrenaline) The native screen on vita doesn't have issues displaying content that isn't a psp or ps1 game since the psp games use half the psvita's screen resolution and ps1 games are oddball ranges 256X224 - 640X480 (as what actual console does and depends on the game.)

The whole point of sharpscale plugin is to... keep things... sharp when scaling? Which the system doesn't do when output to higher resolution due to the forced bilinear filter that's applied when upscaling.... "anything!" The actual handheld vita suffers less than playstation tv because the pstv can use 720P or 1080I resolutions which makes the blurry bilinear filter applied more the higher the game has to upscale to match those resolutions.

In addition to forcing nearest neighbor which unblurs the pixels to keep them "sharp", it also supports real output (Original resolution) or "integer" (Multiplied resolution) scaling modes so there is no issues displaying pixels. Sometimes pixels stretch sizes to fit the display which some people call "Shimmering" when things move, the point of bilinear is to hide that problem with uneven scaling, which is why is forced by every kind of upscalier... even youtube or other media players.

While the plugin works on actual vita handheld, it's probably harder to notice a sharper image with nearest neighbor forced on a smaller screen and resolution compared to the output on a monitor like the pstv does. The most you'll notice is psp games in small window & ps1 games changing sizes based on game (not using adrenaline which can scale both types of games with nearest neighbor already) being in small screen. Here is a video that should show you better if this explanation isn't enough. :ninja:

It will only be useful for PSP and PS1 games to shrink them to use the correct resolution/aspect ratio.

It's only used for PSTV to get the sharpest screen at the correct resolution. It works great with a Tink 4k.

I have only PSTV and I dont see any differences, so I dont use it... Since its a plugin it will eat some mem, so I had delete it. Even when it works, its not untouched anymore. Truly PSP on PS3 is amazing, sad that the PSTV dont give out the same quality. Anyway the PPSSPP has lowest spec and dont need any mem, so why not port this one instead of Adrenalin ? The only PSP games I have done from start to end on PSTV with Adrenalin was Need for Speed Undercover and Manhunt 2 Alpha Prototype, the texture quality make no fun.

haha I still have the Timecoded vhs WORKPRINT from Captain Spaulding ;)
