Hi all, I'm pretty new to this site so bear with me.

I've been searching on and off for a few months now for hacks for the GBA version of Tales of Phantasia. Unfortunately, no one seems to hack it except for one translation patch that I found (even though the game is already translated???). The only hacking advice I can find is very game specific. Other than of course sprite and point editing, I can't seem to find anything more complex for games other than Pokemon and Metroid.

There are a few things that i have been able to do personally;

I very slightly edited the main menu screen just for giggles with hex editing

I also made a team full of cress (this one i'm especially proud of)

Also I did a little bit of text editing, but that's nothing to sneeze at.

Does anyone have some places that i can find more information? Does anyone else hack games that do one else does? I want to be able to make map hacks and full rebuilds of the game, maybe create a new story, but I feel like i've come to an impasse. 90% of the tutorials that I see are suuuper vague.

Thanks ahead of time :)

Most probably won't look at this as there are far better choices for this game.

A translation patch might exist (assuming it is to English and not something else) because people could not wait after the Japanese one was released, or because they thought the official translation was not up to snuff.

I have a bunch of information on GBA hacking in my documents -- http://gbatemp.net/threads/gbatemp-rom-hacking-documentation-project-new-2016-edition-out.73394/
They gained a bit more of a DS focus as time went on but the GBA is so similar and it provides some nice simple examples of concepts that there should still be something there.
