how can you tell? it could be either a cyclods or a dstt

Either way, it's a flash cart that is never ever used for legal means. I mean, seriously, who buys a flash cart to play homebrew only?

On topic: The PSP could have just had a video playing, a green image to be green screened in its own way, etc. Not everything you see on TV is true, and all because they show the PSP doing something it potentially can't on its own doesn't mean they are condoning hacking.

It's called product placement.

These are also the kinds of shows where somebody can bang on a keyboard to hack an IP address, trace an IM conversation to a home address, take a 640x480 10% quality JPEG and magnify it to 5,000% with no quality loss, and more.

This. There are ways to achieve this effect without a hacked PSP.

On Topic? Yeah, I would guess the green screen. It seems like that would be the easiest to do to me.

I saw an GameStop advertisement for some kind of GBA-SP or DS bundle (can't remember which) that had a flash card in the pocket of the case.

There was also discussion a long time ago (talking like 10 years) about Litestep being used on a computer on the TV show 24.

Wish I could find references to those. :

*sigh*
There was also a PSP (I think) in Chuck that disrupted the Intersect. They use things like that as props and it doesn't necessarily reflect what they can actually do, hacked or not.

CycloDS has the microSD slot on the other side.

That picture is hilarious.

On the topic of Smallville and product placement, I find it highly amusing that early on, everything was a Mac, and then the last two or three seasons everything, even just a simple monitor, has a Windows logo slapped on it, and even the cheapest cellphones are made to look like they're running some version of Windows Mobile.
