Hacking Hack Mii doesn't show Press to Continue and Wii settings doesn't open

I've bought an used Wii and I'm trying to install Homebrew using Letterbomb, but it doesn't show the "Press 1 to Continue" message.
My Wii settings also doesn't open and it's not connected to the Internet.


My Wii is an australian version, and I could only open Letterbomb using the 4.3U version.

To make things clear the U in 4.3U refers to the region of the console where it was made to function in in this case:
U- USA
J- Japan
E- Europe
K- Korea
The problem is your wii is an australian version and letterbomb only supports 4.3U/J/K/E.
Maybe you can use the DNS Trick to get the homebrew channel on the Wii but I am not really sure if will work but you try it at your own risk.

That's indeed correct for most Nintendo consoles (not the DSi)

OP has a semibrick - the console was incorrectly region changed by adjusting the operating system region (to Europe, as can be seen in the error URL) without installing an European Wii Menu (and given the last sentence in the first post, it's most likely running the American one)

If any usable Wii Menu exploit (so letterbomb=wilbrand or bluebomb) can run homebrew with AHBPROT enabled, or there's an appropriate patched (C)IOS installed, it would be simple to install 4.3E (in fact since it has a version number 1 higher than 4.3U it may work even on an otherwise clean system) by using the exploit to run a wad manager directly!

Modmii's hackmii solutions wizard/guide may assist with this as well. It will help you launch MMM directly from an exploit so you can install WADs like IOS58 which should allow you to continue and press 1 when loading the hackmii installer.

First make sure you have priiloader, bootmii, and a nand backup.

Then you can fix a region mismatch by running the tool here, just read the first post for more info: https://gbatemp.net/threads/help-test-new-tools-for-modmii-please.533855/

That might fix everything but not necessarily, depending on what was done in the first place. If for example you installed a 'region select' for a different region more steps might be necessary to restore the original region.

What will definitely work is if you run the entire modmii region change wizard (instead of just the 1 snippet linked to above). I suggest you use it to change back to your original region (U), but ultimately doesn't really matter so you can pick E or whatever you want. If you've already got 4.3U installed and you're region changing to 4.3U, you can skip installing the 4.3U system menu and IOS80 wads, if unsure just reinstalling them is fine as well. If you ever for whatever reason (re)install a system menu you should reinstall priiloader immediately (as it gets uninstalled when installing a new system menu). This will be part of the modmii guide anyway but I'm just stressing the importance of that part.
