on windows, personally I use avast, it seems better than AVG to me, but either are 9000% better than norton.

ya, so true, and whatever u don, don get macafee as well, another shitty anti-virus, that detects stuff, but can it delete anything? Haiz, u wish

as for me, i am using nod32 for anti virus and zone alarm for firewall(both are not free, but u can find them easily on the net

, just note that whatever u do, do not use zone alarm for virus scanning, since it will probably take more than a day(tested by yours truely, 8 hours+ before i gave up) )

for free anti virus, i guess avarst would be a pretty good choice, i heard lots of good things from my friends about it.

NOD32 best AV on the market.

AVG made me reformat - never again, crappy av. Avast any day.

Just my personal experiences.

What the hell kind of viruses did you have to need to format =\ I've not once needed that... But, you do need to install AVG on a fresh installation of Windows, otherwise you're basicly asking to fill the quarantine up and start losing important OS files that get viruses lol.

AVG is the best free solution.

I did hear that NOD32 was pretty good too, but you'll have to pay for it or pirate it..

Just for the note, NOD32 is very easily pirated, so that is a good alternative.

NOD32, pretty much called ESET now, and AVG Free are a good way to go

Nice laptop, thats 19" wide screen resolution on a laptop .....

17" for a basic graphics card? you were ripped off!!

There are good 17" laptop with high-end graphics cards. Get a Centrino-based laptop. it'll save your laptop's battery life specially on the Centrino 2.

Norton is nice but I prefer AVG as it's free.

Back on the topic: if you were just to use it as an everyday use, I wouldnt mind but if you do hard core like photoshopping and movie editing, get a centrino based.

I hate Pentium Dual Core. Core 2 FTW!! I wonder how much are i7 laptops?

No viruses, it was the crap AV that made me reformat. The program itself. It started acting up, restarting my machine and then crashed it several times, got a BSOD and that was it.

First time I had EVER got a BSOD on Windows 7. Not even with Kaspersky beta that said it had an issue with BSOD sometimes in W7.

Centrino is just a marketing platform. Battery life and High-end video cards do NOT go hand-in-hand, so you are contradicting yourself.

Any recent 45nm Pentium Dual Core = Penryn derivative = Core 2 45nm, just with less L2 cache and a slower FSB clock. Most applications won't see a significant drop or gain in performance. Hell, if anything, Pentium Dual Cores would run cooler due to the smaller die size (less cache).

i7-based laptops are not out yet. Inital reports show that they have ridiculously high TDPs, again contradicting your first comment about battery life.

Don't give a damn what anyone else says, but Intel graphics sucks. If it's not nVidia or ATI, it's lame and virtually useless for gaming.

Pentium Dual Core are Core2Duos with lesser L2 Cache...

and i7 Laptops will never exist. Intel's derivats of the i7 for Laptops are named i5 or i3 (not to sure which one of those 2 was the one Laptops will get)

The Clevo W860CU will have an i7, don't know if it will have a different name.

It has 1 more gig of ram and 90 gig more of hard drive. Mine has a bigger screen and a hdmi.

I hate big screens. Tough to take it around and when people see it in public, it looks totally retarded. Anyway, who's seen those freaking huge macs? Scared the shit out of me.
