Gaming Good ROM Manager

I'm actually in the process of writing a DS Rom Manager, are there any features that any of you would like to see in it?

My current features list:
• Rename the ROM based on the header info (ROM names will be stored in a database)
• Optional in the naming scheme: Release Number, Country Code, Release Group
• Box Art Display
• Review Scores (from places such as IGN, GameSpot, etc)
• Organize the games into a specific folder
• Direct copy of games in the list to your external media card
• Transparent downloads of ROM Database

I'm open to any suggestions, and the good ones will most definitely be added in, as I'm a feature whore and love adding in new features to software

Add ROM Icon viewing and a good search/filter function that searchs through genre, publisher and what not.
Search functions in rom listers never seem to be very common.
Still trying to find a good NES rom lister so I can find some old Namcot game with animal cartoon pirates. Not sure if its Nomcot, but I could never seem to find that old game, and theres not much in the way of publisher searchs in NES rom listers.
an NDS rom lister should have that search funcion too.

Also support for screen caps ahead of the emulators would be nice so it doesnt have to be done later.

Just some ideas.

Nice feature list btw. I like it already.

It's just going to be strictly for NDS, kinda like a 'personal NDS organizer'.

@2cb2ct7: I will be creating a database file from scratch. Since all of the current DATs out there do not contain all of the necessary information I'll be using, I'll need to add data anyways, so I figured I might as well do my own

Basically I'll update the database once a week (Of course, I'll collect release info from GBATemp since this is the community I'll be sharing my program with) and eventually have it updatable by users who have 'administrative rights' straight through the program. It'll be almost like an NDS Wiki

@shadow1w2: ROM Icon Viewing is included as well, just forgot to mention it

The search feature is good as well, and I think I'll include that.

@jhoff80: Added to the list

It won't trim the roms stored on the card, but instead it'll organize into 2 different folders: Clean and Trimmed. This way you can view a list of your clean games, and a list of your trimmed games, and choose to copy the trimmed games over to your memory card.

Thanks guys, keep 'em comin

@hankchill have a look at emuconnie GBAFront dats (they are based on no-intro data), review scores aside it has what you want.

@jhoff80 offline list has a trimmer module you can use with the selector but you were probably speaking to hankchill so forgive me if you were.

@wabo and id242 thanks for the links I will check them out a bit later (still got to grab some of the stuff off of my old machine), I have really got to start visiting playeradvance again.

Thats sounds cool.

I find the duplicate filter invaluable in offline list - I'm no collector, I just want one version of each rom in the english language and the duplicate filter fits my needs perfectly for this.

Also I've often thought how useful a plugin would be that did a search of the relevant groups on binsearch and automatically pulled down nzbs for anything that was missing.

Hi

Can someone please explain why i might need a 'manager'

I am getting my R4 soon hopefully - and have a few files to load up.

What can this manger do for me??

I downloaded the file from offlinelist and the xml form advanscene but it makes no sense to me!!

Please help a noobie

Im using offline list - seems alright

where can i download NDSCRC??

My R4 arrived today - cant wait to get home!!

I'm using NDSCRC right now, and I'm having some problems with the unknown roms. They seem to be working fine, but NDSCRC cannot recognize them. Does NDSCRC only recognize clean roms? Cause I noticed that one thing common about my "unknown roms" is that they either have patches/"unclean".

i dont think there is a list for patched roms cuz each device uses their own way of patching and so will generate a unique rom after their patching. maybe i'm wrong.

If I remember correctly: yes

Bummer, what am I supposed to do with all the unclean roms now?

Is there an offline list that can also recognize patched roms?

Rominator can
