Hey,

so I recently got a switch that is exploitable and want to flash it. Its the old switch of my girlfriend, I played with it the last weeks on her Nintendo Account.
Now I thought that it would be no problem to install CFW, create my own account and log in with it and transfer my savefiles.

I just now saw that save files are bound to the Nintendo account. Is there really no way of doing this?
Can I backup saves without risking her account to get banned after I installed CFW?

Reason for me wanting to log out with her account before installing CFW is that I'm scared that her account gets banned after I installed it. But I really want to keep my Zelda saves.

Is there anything I can do to achieve this? Maybe disconnect switch from the internet, install CFW, backup saves and then log out?
I'm not sure if the saves are even physically saved on the device.

Would be really glad for any help on this matter

edit: The profile I'm using is not yet bound to a Nintendo account, so I could create my own and bind the profile I played on to this Account. I just dont know if this would work for the saves? I'm scared that the saves will not be accessible anymore after I did this.

You appear to have a few misconceptions about CFW, saves, and bans.
  • For starters, you do not "install" CFW. CFW is just a bunch of files on the SD card. However just because CFW is not installed doesn't mean its safe from bans
  • While saves are technically bound to the Nintendo Account, homebrew save managers can dump save data that isn't tied to the Nintendo Account. This way, it can be restored to any Switch regardless of the current account
  • Assuming you go down this route knowing full well the risks, the account is one of the last things to be banned if ever. Nintendo rarely bans accounts for hacking so if that is your only concern, then there is nothing to fear. You can still get banned from playing games online or using the eShop so be wary of that
