Alright, I am a total noob and I have no idea what's wrong.

So, i have the latest verioson of both Luma and GM9, and yet whenever I hold start on bootup to launch GM9, it just shows my splash screen and then goes to the home menu.

I have the .firm file for GM9 in the luma/payloads folder, but for some reason i had to create the payloads folder. I also have the gm9 folder of the root of my SD Card, and yet nothing happens when I hold start. Am I doing something wrong? Please help!

Hello.:)

Is it correct named "GodMode9.firm" please ?

Thank you.:)

No, I don't believe I have it installed. I will update once I have it.

Alright, so going through the process of installing fastboot3DS, it appears to have worked, but now instead of booting up GM9, I'm receiving this error:

"Keys held on boot: [START]
Keys match boot slot #2.
Boot path is sdmc:/gm9/payloads/GodMode9.firm
Load slot #2 failed.

Press B or HOME to enter menu."

Am I missing a file or something?

Here's why Luma3DS chainloader didn't launch GodMode9 on your boot9strap setup.
  • sdmc:/luma/payloads/GodMode9.firm
Fastboot3DS doesn't care where your FIRM payloads go as long as they're not in the twln:/ and twlp:/ directories.

Edit - Another reason why GM9 might not boot.
Replace GM9 with the latest release.

I do have the .firm file from the latest version. However, after moving the .firm file to the gm9 folder on the root of the SD Card, it now works. Appreciate the help!

Hold up... Do you still have boot9strap installed? That then chainloads fastboot3DS as the sdmc:/boot.firm? Which then chainloads GodMode9 located in sdmc:/gm9/payloads/GodMode9.firm?

You can replace boot9strap with fastboot3DS as the default bootloader. Read that thread about how to go about installing FB3DS using OpenFirmInstaller.
