Backups are for wimps. If you brick it, just buy another one.

Resetting from stock should be safe, though.

Also, despite what I said, you actually should make a backup after the reset. Making one before would be the safe thing to do.
I would be to impatient to do that, though.
Thank you so very much!

I'll be getting right on it then.

I bleive it's better to start fresh to get as much knowledge and experience from it as possible. And that way, I'll know exactly what's on it, what's done to it and how to handle it.

I would like to update the payloads on my RCM loader, but I do not know which ones to get..

The only reference I have is this:

LED.png

I know how to update them, but not which files to get.

For RCM loader, depends what payload you want inject. If your console boot in OFW, update it to the last release (actually 14.1.2) then make a backup...
For RCM loader... if you inject hekate.bin or fusee.bin, copy the file in the folder ATMOSPHERE/HEKATE. When you plug the rcm loader to pc, you'll see it as an external usb drive. Then delete the old file in the folder and copy the newest. Then rename it how payload.bin (example.... rename fusee.bin in payload.bin). After copyng, press the + button and the - light will flash. For ATMOSPHERE/HEKATE the ligh will be BLUE. If not, keep the + button for about 3 seconds and the colour will change. Repet the operation, untill the light will be BLUE.

In sequence the colours will be: BLUE---> GREEN--->RED--->YELLOW--->MEMGENTA--->CYAN--->BLUE....
When rcm loader is charging the light will be WHITE
The light on rcm will be WHITE after inject payload, too.

As I said, I know HOW to update them, just not which file and where to get them.
I just started from scratch and got Atmosphere running. That's as far as I got.

As for OFW... It says it can't connect to the server, so I'm stuck on OFW 13 until I can figure out how to solve it.
Using RCM loader, it boots into Hekate, so I guess it's not Fusee (don't really know which is better).

Following this guide: https://rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasy isn't really straight forward after completing the step to setup CFW.
It doesn't really tell you what the next step is, but instead just has everything categorized in lists.

Thank you.

Why can't you connect to Nintendo servers? If the console Is banned, you can connect them, too. If the console Is banned you can't connect to e-shop, can't buy game, but you CAN update your Switch.

I do not know why it can't connect to the servers, I've tried to fix it, but no luck yet.

You can do another thing... Download the latest firmware for switch, start atmosphere ad upadte the console with Daybreak

I'll give it a try when I've come that far into the process.

Setting everything up is the main thing now.

Successfully installed Atmosphere, daybreak hb store and updated the switch to 14.1.2.

I did notice that Goldleaf got installed in the package, but I believe I read in here somewhere that Tinfoil is better.

Is there a Homebrew must have list or is it kind of just spread around.?

Goldleaf Is a tool for installing game via USB, with PC ( Tinwoo, Awoo, AtmoXL do the same thing via WIFI, too). With Tinfoil you can install games via USB/wifi with PC or directly by the tool with dedicate shops.

Seems like I've got everything up and running now.
Tinfoil didn't work, so I went with Goldleaf.

Thank you everyone for your help.

did you install sigpatches? if not you need to.

avoid using hb store, alot of it is outdated. if anything browse, then google the homebrews github.

homebrew must have imo:
JKSV (save managment)
Tesla menu (an overlay hb & sysmodule other hb can utilize)
edizion se + its overlay for tesla menu (used to search game memory for cheats, and to run them)
fastcfwswitch (a quick way to switch nands or go to hekate.)
sysclk (a sysmodule used to overclock the system)
ftpd (used to wirelessly connect to pc to transfer files)
hekate toolbox (used to manage sysmodules)
tinfoil (a game installer/free game shop, needs sigpatches & cant link here)
nxdumptool (used to dump cartridges/installed games/dlc ect into nsp)
nxshell (switch system file browser)

that should get you started

try to avoid using repacks, most are bloated garbage.

Simplified version: JKSV and DBI

It's literally all I use most of the time.

No Chaosta...if the switch Is banned, you can update it's firmware. If you could not, Nintenso would violate the sales clause because it must always guarantee you updates.

I hate to play devil's advocate here but there are bans that can prevent even firmware updates. This thread is dedicated to the appearance of this phenomenon which came be to known as CDN bans or "superbans". However once Nintendo required a token to download from their CDN which cannot be done with any publicly available tools, most if not all CDN bans were either downgraded or lifted.

My sister has got a banned switch, and she can update the firmware from Nintendo servers.... maybe in other countries the are restrictions, bat not here in Italy...

I don't think you quite understand. The user's country has absolutely no bearing on the ban. Saying a Switch is banned is too broad of a statement. Not everyone receives the same type of ban. There are actually several different types of bans that can limit what you can and can't do. Some bans let you access the eShop while others don't let you update games. You can read up on the various types of bans in this thread.

yes pic1972... maybe google what "cert banned from cdn" then youd realize youre wrong.. cert bans you CANNOT update anything via nintendo. sales clause doesnt matter.
