Hacking Getting my 3ds on latest emunand.

Hello,

I haven't been around here for a while.

I'm looking to be able to update my games so I can play online. I currently have a sysnand on 9.0.0-20U, and an emunand (via Gateway 3ds) of 11.2.0-35U.

Is there a way to get an updated emunand? At this point, I don't care about my save files, but I would like to be able to get my 3ds to a state where I can install .cia and run .3ds files.

What's the best way to go about this?

The best way to go about this would be to drop Gateway entirely.
For the best way to keep your Gateway with an 11.6 emunand, you'll have to set up a frankenfirm, and I don't know how to do that.

I don't mind dropping Gateway. What would be the proper steps to set up an updated emunand without Gateway?

No need for emunand either just follow this guide https://3ds.hacks.guide/

First, you might want to back up your saves with Checkpoint or JKSM on your emuNAND. Then you can follow 3ds.hacks.guide to mod your sysnand with Boot9Strap. Because your sysnand is still 9.0, you'll be able to do Soundhax + Udsploit, which is free. At the end, you just have to restore your Checkpoint saves.

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that you shouldn't restore a Gateway emunand to sysnand, so don't do that.

Don't follow that yet or you'll lose access to Gateway and won't be able to recover your saves (without making Gateway work again through a long process). Follow this first https://gbatemp.net/threads/importing-gateway-saves-to-cia-games.425743/

You aren't likely to ever need it, unless you find a new console on 11.3 or less that was updated by cart from a low firmware version (so soundhax won't work) and you don't have an ntrboot capable flashcart.
