What the title says...
I just want to know what exactly I will have to look out for? For example I want to avoid the bottom screen scratching the top... how would I go about that?

Use screen protectors.
That will solve your problems.
Oh and if you want to save battery just turn the brightness down and turn 3D off.

The screen scratching problem has been solved on all newer 3DS models.
From what I gathered screen scratching problems are still their. It depends on the factory whether or not you get the slightly 'revised' 3DS.
Hopefully I'll get a Zelda one but I doubt :( Oh well atleast I should be getting OoT 3D and MK: 7 with it ^_^

Edit: I don't like screen protectors too much... I always stuff up putting them on and their is slight air bubbles so they annoy me D:... I think I'll a glasses cleaning cloth to stick in between when closed

you get a little yellow one with it

my original 3DS i always leave it in when im not using it

my Zelda one tho has no problems and is like the better version but shame it lacks ambassador status

As I recall all the "Fire Red" 3DS's are the new revision.
actually , i dont think so, because i got a 3ds around 10 days ago and it still has the bumper issue, i have applied screen protectors now though, i am not really sure about everyone else but mine still has the problem

I think the only 3DS's that may be safe from the screen issues, are the Zelda Edition 3DS systems. I bought a Flame Red 3DS on launch day when it was released in September and I had gotten the line problems on it.

My sister's Flame Red 3DS had the screen issue. It didn't have scratchs just scuff marks so I went and got a screen protector. My Zelda 3DS doesn't have this issue tho.
