Hacking Gecko Question

Hi,

I don't own a Gecko SD or USB device. But I keep reading about the only way to boot Trucha signed discs being through GeckoOS.

Do I need Gecko hardware to use it? Or is there a way to just install it on the Wii using a normal SD or USB? What all do I use to boot Trucha signed discs? I've looked around but there doesn't seem to be any FAQ on it...

And is there a GeckoOS channel that I can install as a .wad?

Do I still need a drivechip to use burned discs? Or will Waninoko's new IOS work because it can read DVD-ROM using homebrew?
