FPRPG smash hit Borderlands is getting a sequel in the next couple months. However, this hasn't stopped Gearbox from paying their respects to the past, with a demake of the original Borderlands for internet browsers.

The demake plays like a Smash TV style top-down shooter while still keeping that Borderlands system of loot. You still get a set number of lives and advance through stages in the hopes of getting a high score.

It's a worthwhile distraction for any fan of retro gaming and/or Borderlands. You can play the game at the link below.

Heh, I love little nods like these. Last one I remember was the Japanese Fallout 3 getting an NES JRPG-styled browser game. So cool~

That was quite amusing although Zero with a 2 way rail cannon is pretty much invincible- can dodge everything and if you are on a stage where you are in a direct line from the spawn points you are laughing.

I got Borderlands on launch day and played the crap outta it till I beat it, but dropped it shortly after that.
Regardless of that, Gearbox is awesome. I feel sorry for them picking up Duke Nukem Forever, considering it was a Brittney Spears-caliber trainwreck.
Can't help but love a company that actually seems to CARE about its fanbase.

This, basically. Once you get your hands on a 2 way rail cannon you've pretty much won the game.
