A GC booter has been released!:

    http://wiibrew.org/wiki/GCBooter

With a bit of luck it can be incorporated into GeckoOS - what do you think?
    Will compatibility now be better?

If you look at what it does, you see why this won't work.

what we should do is try to make it boot gcos. then we have full working GC homebrew easily.

Yes, I wanted to suggest that. A homebrew that boots GCOS from the homebrew channel would be great.

    impossible....

when in GC mode, the Wii became fully a GC...infact you need gc pad and gc memory card for saves...

Could this be incorporated into ocarina to allow playing gc games with decrypted action replay codes?

edit: I'm kinda confused. Does this code switch to gamecube mode from wii mode, or boot a gamecube game while in wii mode? (as in play a gamecube game with wii hardware acessible)

I was hoping it would have an option to boot the Gamecube Game in PAL60.

I've changed my Wii's TV display to NTSC, and all the PAL and SSBB US and Wario Land Shake JP Wii games display fine. So does Donkey Konga (US) and Nintendo Puzzle Collection JP for Gamecube display fine but when I load one of my PAL Games, it just boots the game in NTSC and of course the Gamecube PAL games don't have a NTSC option so nothing appears on the screen. [IMG]

It's no big deal at the moment as I kept my PAL Gamecube. [IMG]

Yeah, but it adds a Wii side "feature" to GC games: the reset button! [IMG] Try that, works in GC games when loading using GC Booter...it'll return to the Wii system menu instead of restart the game.

NTSC systems don't have an option in the menu to select 50hz period, unlike PAL systems which do have an option to use 60hz for certain things.

I was just wondering, would this be able to run the GC version of Action Replay? (for gc games)

Right, what we need is to make this into a simple loader, like geckoOS. We need to have it boot GCOS< then we have all gamecube homebrew at our fingertips.

Now, what we also need to do is try and incorporate "Boot GCOS" as an option in GeckoOS, then we have a very simple hombrew that will run most things.

The next thing we need to do, is try and make that its own channel, the GCOS channel. Then, we can have one channel for wii homebrew, and another for gamecube hombrew (and backups)

Anyone wanna have a go at doing this?

No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

All this does is what the system menu does to boot Gamecube discs. It can't load backups. It's not "truly" region free.

Not quite. NTSC Wiis still can't play 50Hz games.
