Hi, basically this is more a curiosity post more than anything, but I was reading this on 3dbrew:
https://3dbrew.org/wiki/3DS_Virtual_Console#Regular_VC

And seems that Nintendo did a software emulator for GBA games on VC but was unfinished and then resorted to hardware emulation using AGB_FIRM.

Has anyone tested on video how this emulator perform? Wiki says it is "somewhat slow" but I'm curious to actually see it in action (and how it could perform at New 3DS speeds).

Very bad.

All right, yeah, that looks terrible considering it's at N3DS speeds. I thought I searched hard enough and yet I couldn't find that video...

I was looking to some better developed emulators on the 3DS, and they seem to use a dynarec instead of just natively executing ARM7 instructions on the ARM11, I wonder what caused the developers to use that approach, I believe ARM11 should be backwards compatible, no?

Edit: Nevermind, I found that ARMv6 (ARM11) actually has enough mldifications done compared to previous versions that makes native hardware emulation hard to do. I guess dynarec makes sense then.
