If your on a windows system you will need this program: ReadCID
You might also need a card reader that ISN'T USB based.

No reader that isn't usb based :(. I'm just going to use the Kingston cards elsewhere. They are working fine on other stuff,(16GB is currently in a digital video camera).

The only thing they have in common with the questionable 'legit' ones from that blog is a silkscreened batch number, although they do have a small laser etched number as well running down the edge of the card.

The 4GB has only a laser etched batched number.

and then I bought 4 cheap Kingston 8GB class 10 made in Taiwan, 2 work fine, one works sometimes and the other is not working at all, and I've tried many times, however that last card works fine for windows files... It was driving me crazy.

Got the batch number of the one that doesn't work? any other details (laser etched or silkscreen batch etc).

I'll grab the batchnumber off mine later (Don't have them with me right now).

You would need a PCI slot card reader for that. There is an android app or java app that pulls the info from the microSD cards put into phones. USB readers in windows don't have direct access to that low a level information.
