Hello,
anybody knows of what the gateway team is working on for their future updates?

One very welcomed improvement would be saving the games when the rom saves, not when it's closed.
But I don't know if they can do that.

But they usually post updates once every decade, so anybody knows anything about the future updates?

Gateway Omega 2.0 Firmware already does handle saves like that! It's their "real-time save" feature. So if you save in your game the data is written on the fly to the memory card. You don't need to press home + x anymore.

I suppose the next best step would be that they are working on 6.x or 7.x support. With Omega 2.1, the work:profit ratio is already maximized. Anything further improvements on the feature set just means greater work with significantly diminished profit. Most people that have 4.x consoles already got a GW/MT. There's little reason for them to add new features.

HOWEVER, if they can figure out 6.x 7.x, their profits will skyrocket due to the whole new market.

(Bottomline, piracy for 4.x is already optimized. Doesn't matter whether 4.x exploit is publicly released or not, it will not affect 4.x piracy. Hence there must be other more personal and possibly sinister reasons as to why we have not yet seen a free solution based on 4.x exploit)

Yeah, logically their next goal would be to achieve compatibility with higher firmwares.

Although they did state somewhere around the v1.2 firmware update that they would "like to enable homebrew" on the 3DS. Technically they acheived this (Gateway Menu, NAND Redirection is all 'homebrewed') But I'd love for them to develop a method to install those .cia 3DSWare dumps.

gateway omega does not save on the fly like they say it does. i had 2 games freeze on me and all progess i did from that play session were gone. it happen while playing lego undercover and batman blackgate. even though the game said it saved all progess were lost when the game freeze.

I was playing the Ace Attorney re-release the other day when my battery went flat. When I plugged the 3DS in and turned it on, the start of chapter save was fine, so it seems to be working fine for me.
Perhaps it could have been related to the freezing, firmware versions, regions of roms or any number of things, but I think the feature is indeed implemented.

Maybe cause you still have to save in-game...?

Nope can confirm that saves are losts as well.

Was playing bravely default. Grinded till level 50 from 44. Saved. Left the game running for the "money generating thing, Big Pharma". In the morning realised game froze. Restarted 3DS, found out that the game went back to Level 44.

Yea. If your console freezes or you accidentally eject the cart it wont save. Powering off always saves now. the 3ds dying is sometimes spotty. I find one out of 7 times(for me) the file is back to where i started.

Makes sense. I guess it doesn't actually save in real time, but any clean exit to the game triggers a save, as opposed to having to go home and press x.

Yea its strange. It just means our real time save is only half a realtime save lol.

we hope to see in the futur
- 5.+ / 6.+ support & it's possible if seam did it
- homebrew support
- autoboot system so people don't have to launch the exploit every time

One small feature that would be good to have: remember the last played rom. If I switch on my 3ds and start the exploit I always have to use SELECT and cycle through all roms to load the one I played before I switched off last time.

Same thing happened to me with Virtue's Last Reward. Lost all my progress.

In order to save you still need to go to Home > X > Close

After losing hours of gameplay in Conception II (3 hrs) and Scribblenauts Unlimited (7 hrs) due to freezing, I've gotten in the habit of hitting the Home button to briefly suspend the game and then go back to playing it. Doing so seems to have mitigated progress loss as freezes now only claim any progress made since the last suspension.

So I'd say that Real-Time Saving is a lie, but the saving protocols themselves have seen a decent enough upgrade.

GW only support "Real-Time Save" for NAND save game now, for example: Pokemon X/Y, Animal Crossing..., this game save SAVE in the ROMs.

Other games must press Home+X to save SAVE to SD card.

but MT card support all games "Real-Time Save", no need of press Home+X.

I just wonder why some people are having 'freeze issues'......slow or crappy microSD cards? I got one of the first Gateway cards shipped in USA and have played extensively on it since v1.0 and have never had freeze issues or even save or save corruption issues.
