Hacking Gateway 3DS DS Profile Question

So i was wondering: If you have the Gateway 3DS is there any way to reverse the DS Profile exploit? So that you can acces the settings again? Or is the exploit permanent on that firmware?

I haven't got a Gateway (yet), but since the blue card stuff needs to be redone everytime ds mode has been entered, I would assume entering ds mode undoes it.

entering ds mode repairs the message length so you should be able to enter DS Profile
formatting the 3ds fix a potential DS mode brick caused by a wrong DS Profile
