Guide for making the partitions.

1. Download bootice from here.
2. Format
2. In the "Physical Disk" tab, find your micro SD, and click "parts manage"
3. Click "re-partitioning" under the operations section management window
4. Select "USB-HDD Mode (Multi-Partitions), click OK
5. Configure your partition settings to your liking, format as MBR (GPT might work, not sure)
6. Click OK and let it format

Even with that, writing the .3ds to the micro SD makes it overwrite the partition tables so you're back to one partition after writing :|

a quick question for all the guys here from america, is there a possibility your gateway gets stuck at the us customs?
because here in germany its very likely that your order gets there and they keep it.
you have to go there and open your package in front of them and explain to them what it is and its possible that they keep it.

I guess it's possible but I personally have never had that happen to me. Also I've never heard of that happening

ok thank you for your respond.
I hate ordering something from china its always a lot of trouble.
my problem is that its a pretty expensive order and it will most likely end up at our customs here in germany.

By ordering from European shop you don't run risk to incurring in customs charges :)
I suggest you to preorder from Teensy.co.uk (if you "like" his facebook page, they give you one voucher by the value of 5£ valid for preorders, and of fact you can take home the Gateway 3DS at 65€, trackable shipping included).

too late my gateway is on the way from hong kong via dhl, could be here on saturday or next monday.
I dont worry about customs charges, but if they destroy my gateway i will be pretty pissed.

Does anyone know if 3ds-flashcart.com is reliable? i sent them an email and i got a reply saying not to worry about custom charges because it can usually be avoided..? not very clear there, but i assume that they would mark the package at a low value then..

yes thats what they are doing, they mark the package at a low value + as a gift.
the problem is if it gets stuck at your customs and they want to see a bill

True, but i think more than likely it would be ok. I'm checking EU sites but haven't found any that has stock, topcards.be say they will have them likely next month. So not really sure where to order from, to get it the soonest anyway.

that was my problem too, everyone seems to be so slow this time.
gateway was announced to be released in mid july first i think and now its almost september haha.
thats why I ordered it from the guy who has them in stock, I dont want to wait anymore its getting kind of rediculous.

Maybe i'll order from the same place you did then, Aliexpress right?. They have them in stock now?, only dispatch time doesn't look to be the quickest with them.

I'm pretty sure you are not going to want to order from Aliexpress. Seriously, it's in your best interests to wait a little bit longer and order from a reputable reseller.

Has anyone in the U.S. ordered one with a MasterCard from an "official reseller" besides Gateway-3ds.net (outdated site and doesn't reply to emails) or HackYourConsole (now defunct)?

Do you know how reliable 3ds-flashcart.com would be?, if i don't order from any of those i'd have to go with either a EU site like topcards.be or Teensy.co.uk, but they will probably have like a 2 week wait time minimum.

Waiting two weeks is honestly a lot better than waiting a day and possibly getting ripped later. I've dealt with Aliexpress sellers before. No bueno, trust me. ;) As far as 3DS-flashcart, I got in touch with them the other day, and it appears they're still waiting on stock too.

I got a reply from 3DS-flashcart today and they told me it's in stock.. but i don't know about their reliability.

They're actually official Gateway resellers, so you can rest a bit easier on that part. And if they say it's in stock, that's really good! Keep in mind though that a lot of Chinese stores say "In Stock" so that people just throw down their money anyways, because of their own impatience. It usually will benefit you to read the item description for a little note saying something about "Preorders only" or something close to that. Good luck on getting your unit, and let me know if you need any more help. :)

EDIT: Just a note for everyone else. Seriously! Purchase from a Gateway 3DS reseller. They're resellers for a reason. If they're not on this list, then the best thing to do is stay away from them.
