Hacking Gamecube Controller

I modded my Wii, but my second gamecube controller doesn't work with brawl. The gamecube controller also doesn't work with the homebrew channel when using the d-pad. I was thinking that it might be since it's not an official gamecube controller? Although I don't know if that would really make a difference. I placed the Super Smash Bros. Melee cd in my wii, and the controller worked fine, so I'm not really sure what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated

I'm not sure what your problem is, but I don't think its because its a generic controller cause both of mine are.

Do you suppose that any incorrect cIOS files could have caused this?

i had some generic controllers and they didnt work at all. I had to finally buy an original controller.
