GCN Gamecube Broadband Adaptor

Friends have been looking at doing a bunch of retro "gamefests" and one of the games mentioned was Mario Kart Double Dash. I never had the opportunity, but I know the game can be played LAN (up to 16 people, 2 on each kart if I heard correctly) and unsuprisingly, those adaptors are hard to find. I was wondering if anyone had made their own adaptor, or have any other way to connect the gamecubes for some LAN action?
