Hi,
New to this forum.... Wondering.... I was watching this movie:

He ordered an ags101 screen from China. But had some issues with the brightness afterwards as he said in the video.

What would be the best option for me? Buy either something from china or can I just buy a normal Gameboy advance SP and replace the screens? (Can get one here for like 15 euros compared to only a screen from china for 30 eur)

I have only some basic soldering skills.....

i did the same mod. i watched his guide many times before i ordered anything. i got a screen from aliexpress and it works great. i did have to slightly adjust the pot in the back (like colin did there). looks great! go for it, but make sure you get the correct adapter for your motherboard.

Please don't cannibalize a SP 101 for its screen.

I modified a GBA with a screen from Aliexpress and had no issues. If you run into problems regrading the screen quality, it is most likely that the adapter is no compatible with the GBA motherboard.

Basic soldering skills should be enough, it is not that hard. Even I could do it ;)

Store No.2204036 on aliexpress

But I think this one doesn't have the cable to be connected to the GBA mobo.... :/

Hi,
When you solder on the cable from the china screen to the GBA mobo... do I need to put some additional tin and tin the cable? Or just warm the old tin and push the new cable in it? No tinning of new cable?

And could I put the GBA buttons etc in the dishwasher? :)
+ what temperature of the soldering iron should I solder the screen cable to the mobo?

The wire on the adapter is already tinned. I wouldn’t put the buttons in the dishwasher. Since they are plastic, they might get warped. I put my butttons in a bowl of warm soapy water, then used a toothbrush to scrub the dirt off.

this is the one i bought

Will it work? because i'm kind of worried cuz the chinese guy told me it's for the Gameboy advance SP :SSS

There are two kinds of cables. 40 pin . Please refer to the second picture of the listing in order to figure out which cable you will need.
All cables come pre-soldered for the easiest install possible. This means that you will just need to solder the power wire to the motherboard. No other sellers sell these pre-soldered!

If your board starts with a zero, you have a 40 pin board and should get the 40 pin one.

It probably says it's for the SP because that's what these screens are originally intended to replace.

So this kit with the cable is useless? I do need another cable? Do you have a suggestion for me?
you need to check the model of your gba mobo. first check what kind of gba mobo you have.
it's either a 40 pin mobo or a 32 pin mobo
the kit you linked, the cable that is in included, is the 40 pin adapter.
if your gba does have a 32pin mobo, i am not sure if you can plug directly the screen or use another adapter

the screen is designed for a gpa sp, to use in a regular gba you need this adapter.
the adapter for 40 pin mobos is included in that kit.
