Android Galaxy S3 Tips

Hi people,
I'm thinking of buying a galaxy s3 from a friend from France. Only problem is that the phone is locked to orange i think... And, as live in another country, I'd like to unlock it. Is it possible to unlock using software only?

Btw, any cool mods? Noteworthy games?

Edit: Also, can I have a good guide on hacking the S3? As in "jailbreaking" it, like the iPhone?
