I think they've offered a similar deal with Arkham City pre-orders.

OnLive is getting pretty nice deals, this Labor Day thing is pretty exceptional (if only I had money!) and it looks like getting a $1 Arkham Asylum is pretty possible (they're at about 42,500 fans currently).

Well, if you get an OnLive console, odds are you'll buy more OnLive games or start subscribing. It's kinda like selling a video game console on a loss.

Plus I don't know if a controller is included with the console, which some may want to buy (I think it's compatible with like Xbox 360 controllers and a mouse/keyboard though, I'm not positive however).

The Micro Console is just a thin client and last I checked it only cost the company $50.00 to make one. The console comes with one controller, HDMI cable, AC Adapter and a Ethernet cable. Finally, the packaging for the console is bad assed. The box is one sexy beast.

I wouldn't be so worried about the staying power of this box. Video games is just OnLive's entry point. The 16 Gb/s browser will be out within the next 3 months and they also plan on doing virtual desktops soon.

Time will tell, I suppose. This whole thing just has the reek of desperation that surrounded the Dreamcast leading up to the PS2's release in 2000 (says the guy who still took advantage of one of the many deals at the time and enjoyed the Dreamcast immensely).

Yeah, the "onlive may not be free to use in the future" line wasn't that appealing to me. whenever onlive starts charging is the day i stop using it.

btw, the free onlive system or game also applies to arkham city.

even though it does say they may charge in the future, my guess is they wont ever force you to pay but instead just make the playpack better and better so more people subscribe to that to get there monthly payment
