I thought I had read someone had modified Stooge's code to allow 2 HDDs. I think I read it over on HAX.

Yeah Jakkals fork. Installs to USB1 instead png USB0.

I’ve included this variant in my next host already.

Also there is specialfoods usbfakepackages payload, don’t forget.

Imho this shellcore patch in VTXHEN, is far better to use than any usb payloads.

Thanks, KiiWii. Why do feel the shellcore patch is better? Higher compatibility rates? It seems like we're stuck with the encryption if we use the shellcore method which seems like a minus vs. a plus in terms of features compared to APP2USB.

Shellcore patch is native, you can format an external hdd as extended storage, move legit games and fpkg games to it and play them with no need for apptousb or pkg2usb or usbfakepackages.

If you move the fake games to external extended storage you can also use them on other consoles without having to do anything other than load vtx hen 1.7.

Easy Peasy.

haha i am a noob here
just got a ps4 fat with sub 4.05 FW, skyrim psvr bundle and my wemos D1 mini just arrived and i got it flashed with c0d3m4st4

i was just about to ask if this was possible ,all backups are fpkg= fixes or fame signed package files right?

my system is only 500gb i am looking for advice e on what i should do for storage ,
upgrade internal to 2tb ,upgrade internal to over that with a sata adapter/external power supply ,or go for external
are there any cons to external storage other than needing a dedicated USB port and external drives not working with a USB hub?
i have been really too busy to set all this up
so i have not even updated my FW , i want to know if there are any pros to staying lower(4.05 4.55) or if i should update straight to 5.05
i am not even sure what the difference is between these payloads, mira+ hen vortex etc

look like i will be needing to reflash my D1 mini with a new payload to get external running
so are there any limitations for external or will all games work from external?

i remember on ps3 in early days some games only worked internal and some only worked external or they needed a disk to be inserted to run from one or the other

I have all my fpkgs symlinked to my external drive. I now want to utilise native extended storage.

Should I just uninstall the fpkgs, then reformat the external drive as extended?

I'm same boat with you, I have over 160 games on my external hdd, all symlinked and I don't wanna install all of them again but also I need to use second hdd, I read symlinked hdd and ps4 format hdd are working together without any problem, I probably will test that on this weekend. For now I will keep my symlinked hdd, because I can copy games easily from it and I can use it as exfat hdd. If 5.55 or further exploits won't work with app2use, then I will delete and install all games...

AppToUSB formatted drive is more flexible since you can connect it to PC and move files around. PC doesn't recognize PS4 formatted external drive and you'll lose access to the pkg files once they are installed on the drive so you will need to store a backup copy on another hard drive.

if you want to change over to the ps4 ext storage from apptousb just use the move function if you have 2 hdd's

plugin both the apptousb hdd and the ps4 formatted ext hdd and run hen 1.7 for the shellcore(ext hdd) patch.
  1. Select
    settings-icon-01-ps4-eu-22jul15.gif
    [Settings] > [Storage].
  2. Select the [System Storage], and then select [Applications].
  3. Press the OPTIONS button and select [Move to Extended Storage].
  4. Add ticks to the applications you wish to move and select [Move].

the ps4 will copy the symlinked games created by apptousb to the external storage and they will run off the ext hdd not the apptousb hdd.

in my tests the pkg files remained on the apptousb hdd after the move process(the console did not delete them).

if you only have 1 hdd and you need to format the apptousb hdd as ext then you will need to copy the games to your pc or somewhere and format the hdd to ext and then reinstall the games.

keep in mind that when you switch over to the ps4 external format you will no longer be able to plug the hdd in to the pc and access the pkg files.
you will have to plug it into the ps4 and use ftp to get the pkg files to pc from /mnt/ext0/
its best to have a backup hdd with all the pkg files for reinstalls and stuff.

don't forget to backup the app.db because the console will still wipe out the fpkg listings using the ps4 external format if the database rebuilds, which means you will have to reinstall them if you have no backup.
