Gaming Floppy Diskette Seek failure

I am getting this error message everytime i try to turn on my pc

"Floppy diskette seek failure
Strike the F1 key to continue , F2 to run the setup utility"

Also whenever i try to do a system restore i get the same message.

I also cannot install any software.

This began earlier yesterday, only then i couldnt even get into my OS it just took me too a black and white text screen with

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
C:\windows\system32\config\system "

I finally somehow got back into my regular system but its still being very weird and slow.

Does anyone know whats up?

I scanned with AVG and nothing showed up so i dont think its a virus.

no i do not, i have disabled it in the setup menu too, i have put my hard drive at the top of the boot sequence, and i cant boot to the recovery console.

Well of course it wouldn't be a virus, virii do not affect your POST even if you had a boot sector virus. Sounds like either your BIOS is corrupt or your CMOS battery needs to be replaced. In the worst case, your motherboard is failing.

Does that mean i have to take the damned thing into the shop?

If so tell me soon so i can delete my porn, games, and music

EDIT: Also, how would i check for the problem, and how would i fix any of those problems?
