no its totally different , flatmii is a iso loader, although it is from the same team.

Wasn't there the problem that a flatcable drivechip doesn't manipulate the drive and just translates dvd reading command to dvd video reading commands which results in the same speed as the backup launchers? The drive itselfs says, no i don't want to load the disc or says, oh it's a dvd video, i switch to 3x speed. (flatmii doesn't suffer from this, as it emulates the drive completely)

Oh and it looks like these are the same people who created flatmii, so i wonder why they don't release a device with both features. The productions costs will only 10 bucks more, but the product would be more than 10 bucks more worth.

So is Flatmod 3X or 6X ? That's the only advantage that I would see going for this type of mod...

I don't know what speed the drive is for this device, but I read that a similar device by wiikey is only 2x.

all this ModChip kind are 3X reading speed, cause they only traslate the data, they don't really change the way the drive chip read the DVD...!!!

It can read a gamecube disc as dvd video disc. To achieve this with softmodding is very difficult or impossible, because the reading commands aren't inside the mios, they are inside the games. It's very complicated why this doesn't work, look at the gamecube backup launcher threads, and don't revive this old topic the 10000th time.

I was going to go for one of these but its never going to work full speed sadly, Im sticking to my flatmii which is amazing for what its made to do
