Hacking Flashcard Help!

I'm new to the whole flashcard scene, so I don't know what to do. I just recently bought a R4i Gold 3DS Plus, and it finally came in. I put the Wood 1.64 kernel on the microSD, which got it working on my 3DS, but it doesn't seem to work on my DS Lite. My DS Lite reads it but when I run it, it gives me a black screen.
Is there something I was supposed to do?

Due to the fact that I’m a flashcard virgin, other useful flashcard info will be appreciated, like;

how do I put games on it?
do i need to update it somehow?
what do the settings do?
how do i use it?
What are other things I should put on it?


EDIT: I got it working on my DS Lite. My DS Lite's Date/Time Settings were incorrect. Don't know how that affected it.

It's working on 3DS but not ds lite? That strange.
Try using older version of wood.

The r4i gold plus was made to use it on 3ds and install cfw on it, maybe that's why it won't works on old system.

Need other people to confirm this.

I was able to get it working on my DS Lite by fixing the Date/Time Settings.

Some carts have a date they expire and won’t work after the date unless an update is released
There are a few work arounds. U can set date back and also there is a dif loader that can auto boot to skip over the one that has the timebomb

But the R4i Gold 3DS Plus s not a time bomb card, is it?

I don’t believe it is but there is a list of all the flash carts on this website as well as the 3ds guide site that will tell you if the card has it

I didn’t think it r4 gold did but poster said had changed date and it worked after so I just mentioned it regardless.
