The thing is that they had given out a few perfect scores over several years, and then a lot of 40/40 in just a couple of years.. like they lowered their standars or something (Not that I care, but they who do seem to think this is the issue)

Or the quality of games that they like increased. Technology has advanced at such an amazing rate that it'd only be natural for the amount of perfect scores in their minds to increase. But again, scores matter very little to me. I'm glad that they enjoyed the games, but their opinions don't influence mine. I do like their system, though - 4 reviewers on one game is a likable method for me, personally.

Also, for those that haven't heard of the Samurai Warrior Series - look into Samurai Warriors, it's Chinese counterpart Dynasty Warriors, and then the awesome crossover between the two in Warrior's Orochi 1 and 2. Awesome, mindless fun games.
This, partially.

The reason why Famistu shouldn't be trusted anymore is because unlike other popular review sites, they're still reviewing things as if they are stuck in 1986 and EVERYTHING IS COOL!!!!!1

I wonder if Nintendogs + Cats is that good.

I'm just gonna have to get it and see!

Well since this wasn't posted yet i might as well:

Here's a bit of what Famitsu said in its various 3DS reviews:

Professor Layton
The puzzle solving doesn't use 3D too much, but investigating a screen with depth feels good. The game is enjoyable in 2D as well.

Super Monkey Ball 3D
The gyro-based controls don't fit with 3D. Playing with the gyro controls is fun, but when the 3D is turned on for this, it's a bit difficult to play.

Ridge Racer 3D
There are few modes. Beginners can easily drift, but the rival car difficulty is high. Good points include the BGM and the inclusion of many old courses.

Winning Eleven 3D Soccer
The game is lacking in terms of modes, but the standard modes are there. The feeling of distance and closeness is increased because of the 3D depth. The text is a bit hard to see.

Nintendogs cats
The fur is realistic and the wireless elements are good. The game can be enjoyed by anyone.

Samurai Warriors Chronicle
There's a lot of volume, and the missions are enjoyable. The 3D makes it easy to grasp enemy position. The game's real time simulation elements are enjoyable.

Super Street Fighter IV 3D
Graphics are good. The 3D versus option is a show for the system's 3D, but it can be a bit hard to see. The touch controls are convenient.[/p]

I think the overall "woah"-factor should be counted into the score. Ocarina of time made everyone go "WOOOOW" when it came... Bayonetta? Did it really make everyone (except horny teenagers) go wow? Nintendogs, I can understand that, a tamagochi with lots to do and voice recognition... I hated the game because I didn't get it to work (the swedish commands for dogs are too short for the ds to accept and or recognise, and I didn't feel like shouting at my game in english honestly).

Somehow it feels like any game can get full score now, while before it was only the ones that really stood out for its time.

But again, I don't care at all, and never did... just my view on this topic

No one should really take Famitsu scores seriously. They gave a favourable rating to Sonic 2006 for example, which is objectively terrible. Plus the list of perfect scores is pretty bad too. MGS4, a perfect game huh?

Wait a minute...Famitsu (one of the toughest review sites around) gave Samurai Warriors, made by Koei (who has been known to rehash games a billion times), a 9/9/8/8...
Today's a very good day to be a Warriors fan. Where's Wintrale?

EDIT: Just read what Zeroneo posted...I don't likethe criteria they graded it on.

That said, I don't base my opinions on reviews. Ever. I'll have to see if these games really got what they deserved.

I don't recall Samurai Warriors being a game of "accuracy" or needing to know where an enemy's pinpoint position is. It's more so a game of "run into a crowd of enemies and mash buttons while a hundred corpses fly in the air."

Some pretty good scores. Surprised Nintendogs still holds up even after 1000s of imitators have flooded the market.

Bust A Move, why can you be good any more? I used to love that series.

Let something have a good point. Gosh...

Didn't say it was a bad point for SW: C, just thought it was silly for them to say that you need to have a good perception of depth on a game based on running into hordes of baddies and beating the living shit out of them.

If it plays like previous SW or DW games, odds are it'll be a fun romp. The series is milked hard but goddammit, smashing hundreds of baddies to death is a lot of fun.

And Nintendo started a new trend, Kinect and Move also had commercials with middle-aged people playing.

I'm glad to see Samurai Warrior Chronicles got reviewed so favourably, since that cements the idea in my mind that it's easily the best launch title available. I knew it would have a lot of content, since you'd have to have with 42 playable and upgradeable characters, but I admit I was a bit worried the game might become stale after a while. Seems it doesn't.

As for the people complaining about Nintendogs+Cats getting such as high score, it's quite possible that the game is just flat out fun. It doesn't have to be complicated or geared towards hardcore gamers to be fun, does it? Virtual pets have had a major market for decades, ever since those bleedin' Tamagotchi showed up.

I wonder if they'll take up the trend of getting homosexuals to do their adverts after Nintendo's DQIX stunt over here.
