Hacking Firmware downgrade

Yeah, I should have mentioned it in my post, but anything I have posted in this thread was under the assumption the PS3 is jailbreakable. The main topic was in regards to making it jailbreakable by downgrading and my mind took the topic and expanded it to making it upgradeable while still being jailbreakable.

You might be able to run a patched firmware as homebrew on a jailbroken ps3, but i have no idea how this works on a ps3. On Wii that's a complicated task that took a really long time until it worked, so even if it's possible on ps3, i wouldn't expect it too soon.

Also this wouldn't be the same as custom firmware, as the original firmware would remain on the ps3.

Doesn't the exploit found on firmware 3.41 could be use for other stuff not just to jailbreak it? It was an exploit in the firmware or the system? I'm not very familiar with the PS3 firmware but I'm assuming its very similar to the PSP's XMB.
