D2CKey requires 30 wires to install. And many is installed directly to the IC unless he uses a FlexPCB.
Anyway its not an ripoff.

Apparently he's using a WiiClip.

I think it's a ripoff though, but if you can't do it yourself...

you a modder? (tee hee)

i don't think it's a ripoff. it's rock-solid, there's no soldering of the wii board involved, and the wii-clip is going to save many wii's from a solder-iron death by the hand of a n00b solderer
smile.gif
it looks tons neater and cooler and can also be removed at any time, leaving no trace of a modchip install.

i think they're good for people who're having difficulty finding a modder in their area and don't feel comfortable sending out their wii to some joe-blow and paying him to do it PLUS shipping to and from, which EASILY costs more than 100 USD when all is said and done.

oh yes, forgot to add. i predict the wii-clip is eventually going to put a substantial dent in the overall business volume of some modders as more and more people choose to save money and do it themselves.

Personally I wouldn't of bought one now that alternatives are available

d2ckey.com "However, due to the way that D2CKey interacts with the drive, there is not much that can be changed via an update"
well good point, but all I care about is that it CAN update. Mainly, what do you guys use your mod chips for?(region free,backups...etc.)
Actually that wasn't a good point
When Nintendo patched Modchips using Mario Galaxy they where also able to fix it with an update

Eh? What are you talking about Mario was already gold and pressed by the time D2CKey was released. It was the only chip that worked out of the box because it used a new method Nintendo had no prior knowledge of. There was no update.

?Hey can you please give me more info about nintendo patching mod chips with mario galaxy?Cuz I didnt understand... Thanks in advance.
They made Super Mario Galaxy not working on Modded Wii's
One day later Cyclowiz already made a working patch to get Super Mario Galaxy just working fine

Not a rip off at all. I cant even understand how people can think this is a rip off.

You get:
A nice mod chip
The wiiclip so nothing has to be soldierd directly into the wii.
You get it assabled for you, so you dont have to do anything but clip it in place
1 year warranty

Thats a VERY nice deal for $100 IMO

I shall do it for $75 aud

But after postage etc, it will come to more than $100, and his wii's warranty may be voided.

Edit: Oh, you mean d2ckey modchip soldered onto wiiclip for $75? that is a good price!

lol too bad I already bought it...
Good thing about wiiclip is that you can remove it anytime so your nintendo warranty is still intact!!I think d2ckey's impossible(well..ALMOST) to detect by nintendo cause it doesnt modify the ram which is probobly how nintendo found out the other mods.

The moment you open your Wii, your Nintendo warantee is null and void.

He's right, ya know ... lot of people who got case mods for their Wii have had a shock from Nintendo when they tried to call in a fault under their warranty.

how the hell did nintendo figure it out?

Gee, let me think ... could it be the fact that their machines were in totally unofficial cases?

People called Nintendo, because their WIi died, or whatever ... sent it in to Nintendo to fix ... Nintendo sees the new case on the Wii, and it's Game Over for their warranty.

Plus, it is not hard to spot when a Wii has been opened ... very few people take it apart as neatly as they think they have.

does that mean the USD 100 include that the D2C Chip were solder on the (i dunno whats that call). With that, how is it to attach to Wii? SOldering also? Looking for help since my frenz wanted to Mod their's.

The chip is soldered to a WiiClip ... no soldering is required to attach the WiiClip inside the Wii ... that is the point of the WiiClip.

The $100 USD he is talking about gets him the chip pre-soldered to the WiiClip ... not sure if it also includes postage.

Oh. But how does it connect to the Wii by using Wii Clip
