I just got into the DS homebrew stuff, I read on a forum that a game save has to be the same name as the original rom, but I was looking at my card and noticed they where not, for example:

Lost Magic.NDS would be

LostMa~1.SAV

and also does it matter if caps is on or not??

example:

ndsgame.sav

NDSGAME.SAV

Will they both work for a rom?

Lost Magic.NDS == long file name
LostMa~1.SAV == old standard 8.3 file name

If you named it "lostmagi.nds" (8.3 char) the names would not be different.

Might help to know what hardware you are working with, but in general if the name is 8.3 caps and smalls are not treated differently, so AAAAAAAA.BBB would be stored in the FAT table, but aaaaaaaa.bbb would be handled by the driver to open AAAAAAAA.BBB - try it right now, make a new text file and rename it to the first one, and in the same directory make a second one and try name it to the caps variation, windows will tell you it already exists

Cool! Thanks. So if I make another save such as

Lost Magic.sav

then it will prompt me to replace

LostMa~1.SAV?
