How do I get these games to be any sort of fun? I've seen many many rave reviews by critics and by what I call "ordinary people" all going on about how great these two games are. Thing is though, when I played them I can't get an ounce of fun out of them at all and I have to turn the PSP off after just under an hour. Surely a game should be fun after that amount of time if it is fun right?

Is there a code or something to make them fun or do I need to play these on PSP1000/3000/Go? Is it my CFW? Do I need to play the actual UMD because Square-Enix invented a AP that renders their FF PSP spin offs to be mediocre games (like what they did with FF:CC DS/Wii)? Also on a related note, are the stories for both of these games meant to be so generic and stale or is that AP again?

Anyone help?

Thanks

Oh and i forgot. Try do activate the "Fun Time" plugin. It should work.
Yeah I got that for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories but I think I downloaded a bad version because it didn't make that game fun either.

Ditto for Jak & Daxter but saying that those games were never much fun on any console.

They're only good if you're an FF fan. I really enjoy Crisis Core because I know the storyline of FFVII and I enjoy Dissidia because its a crazy fighting game with all my favourite FF characters.
If you don't know the series, you're unlikely to like the games.

Crisis core had an amazing story.
Dissidia is very fun, but I could see why noobs would not find it fun. Though Dissidia sort of runs out of stuff to do pretty fast

By the way, i've hated every FF game except FF8.

crisis core's story was great and all but i didn't really like the battle system much... dissidia was fun for a while, but i got fed up after a couple of months.

the best ff game for me though was 6

I used to like the first 6 FF games and 9 but recently realised that all FF games are kinda boring.

The first 6 were a lot better.

You do realise that FFVIII is the crappiest of the 3 PS1 games, right?

(says the guy with the Squall avatar)

FF7 had a boring story, not very interesting characters, and was one of the easiest FF games ever. The materia system was a great idea though. They just made it too easy. Sephiroth was an interesting villain though. Completely batshit insane though.
FF8 had a fairly interesting story, it just wasn't very strong. Characters were pretty interesting/entertaining (though very static). Had a good battle system going for it. Squall is also the best hero an FF game has seen yet. (plus he doesn't look like a chick at all, unless you play Dissidia)

FF9 was one of the worst FF games i've ever played. The characters were absolutely terrible, except for vivi. The story was an atrocity. Trance was a joke, and funny enough, despite FF7 being one of the easiest FF games, i'd say FF9 takes the cake as THE easiest.

Overall FF games are never very good.

Good battle system? Fair enough if you like standing around drawing the whole time.

I don't really want to get into an argument about it though as its just a case of differing opinions.

Draw system is to grab ultima, s'bout it.
The magic junctioning idea was great, but once again it pulled an FF and made it too easy to do, thus ruining the difficulty of the game.
Having GFs learn abilities was also a good idea.

We should just agree that FF games as a whole are not great.

Say that to many major site reviewers labelling them as good games.

And out of the 3 PS1 games? Yeah, FFVIII was the lowest.

My personal favorites are FFIX and X. To me VII was.. very average and VIII was just.. plain bad. Didn't like the whole Draw and Junctioning system.

Dissidia is fun though, and i've over 100 hours of game time in it to say i enjoyed experimenting, and becoming ok, with all the characters (Zidane is my Character of choice in this despite not liking him nor IX much). Have yet to play Crisis Core.

I have'nt played crisis core yet since I've been playing dissidia but I can see how someone would'nt find it all that fun. After a while it does tend to get a bit repetitive which is why I don't feel like doing the story line for some of the characters I don't like. Final fantasy 7 had some pretty good characters but what im really confused about is final fantasy 3. I did'nt finish it on the ds so maybe thats why but I know onion knights a class in the game not the main character.

I'm an FF fan, but I hate both because CC is boring and Dissidia is a horrible fighting game.

Only scrubs could find Dissidia fun.

How hard a turn based RPG is really shouldn't be a gauge on how good the game is. You can easily make the game more/less difficult by grinding more/less, buying more/less items.

VII - AGREE
VIII - Interesting story? I laugh. Saving the world is a fucking side quest.
IX - This game was fun because it lacked being too serious until like, Disc 3/4.
