ROM Hack FEFTwiddler - Fire Emblem Fates Save Editor

I've got a theory on something that may or may not work, I need someone's Hana and someone else's Subaki, reclass them, give them weird skills, give them a bronze weapon, just make them very noticeably different from base class Hana and Subaki.

I do plan on delivering it someday! Don't get too excited; there's both surprisingly much and saddeningly little that can be done to make a randomizer using only save editing. It'll never be as good as a ROM-based solution. It'll still be neat to play around with though.

Fun fact: It was the tinkering to see if a randomizer is possible that led to the code improvements that made importing and exporting units possible.

Actually, I think I have something that may help, tell you what, use the randomizer, and export both Hana and Subaki, post the unit files for me.

If my theory is correct, we might be able to deal with the unique character blocks such as PID_A_Hana for Birthright Hana.

Well, I totally forgot that having invalid character IDs in your save can make your game crash upon loading, rip that idea.

So, I remember someone mentioning some time ago that by marking a character with the "left at chapter 6" flag on saves allowed you to edit characters you haven't even gotten yet, however, this would not affect certain people because they use completely different blocks when they first join you than the one they'd use as playable, so I went and gathered the character IDs and hopefully we can put this to good use somehow (although the game seems to be crashing with these unit IDs on the save), do note that these IDs are recycled on all 3 routes, so be careful, as you could be wanting to have a custom block for PID_A_Silas and end up overwriting PID_B_Selena since they use the same ID.

BIRTHRIGHT (6 units with a PID_A_ variant)

Hana - 01 7F

CONQUEST (5 units with a PID_B_ variant)

Is it possible to add characters in routes they normally wouldnt be present in? I want to add fuga to hoshido route instead of just revalations.

You'd have to import a Fuga unit from a Revelation save file into your Birthright file. Or find a My Castle with Fuga in it and recruit him that way.

any idea on editing/ adding personal skills? I can use the nightmare editor to give like the amiibo characters some but would that at all write to my save data? Like would people visiting my castle see them with personal skills and then be able to recruit them like that (I have them shieldless)
oh and I noticed Robin, Marth, and Ike dont have hair colors (but for some reason Lucina does??) I just remember somebody awhile back in another thread saying their Ike!Percy had the default grey hair. So save file editing their hair is an easy fix to note of if UV adds in s support options for the amiibo dudes in her patch

Nope, personal skills are never stored on the save.
 
Yeah, you cannot in any way keep em. If you use a spider ARcode for them, the personals will disappear after a reset.
It works with AR codes because you're technically romhacking, just not permanently.

GameData.bin is loaded onto the RAM, this is literally where ALL of the game's important data is located, chapter data, character data, weapon data, skill data, you name it.

This file is most likely kept in RAM at all times, so AR codes can modified the file while it's on the RAM, so basically, non permanent romhacking.
 
Hey so I used the randomizer right? And when I try to load up the randomized save it crashes...is this supposed to happen? Or did I mess something up?

More than likely not, seeing as how she doesn't have a model, a hex id, any voice lines etc...
And the models from Awakening are different than the models in Fates. DeathChaos was able to add Chrom, Lissa, and Frederick because they already had voices, models, and any IDs in the Before Awakening DLC. This is why there aren't anymore Awakening characters in Fates.

That's because they're in the Japanese version of Fates as DLC.
