Hi All,

My Problem is:

I wanted to download a new game from Freeshop. I presst download in sleep mode and when i pressed the home button to lead freeshp, i got an error.

Unfortunately i was not able to read the error as it vanished to fast. When i booted up my new 3ds xl again, all my "hacked" apps were gone. Not only the downloaded games but also FBI, Luma, Freeshop etc were gone.

Does someone know the reason of this? And maybe how i can fix it?

Sorry for my english grammar. I tried to find an solution in an other, german Forum, but without sucess.

PS: I have to say that i am a total noob when it comes to hacking and stuff like that. It is an miracle that i even could hack my 3ds in the first place xD. So please be patient with me.

Thank you kindly for your help!

Probably your SD is not making good connection with the console (or is otherwise defective); of course, if the SD drops out while software is running from the SD, it will crash; and if the SD isn't readable, software installed on the SD will not appear!

1. Try recovering your lost data through Recuva free version. Do not add, delete, or reformat as this can write over your files.
2. Reformat the card in FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size. Use guiformat if it's bigger than 32 GB.
3. On an empty card, check the legitimacy and physical condition of the SD card using H2testw through a Full Write + Verify Test.
4. If the card passes inspection, add back whatever files you recovered. You may have to resort to rebuilding your setup [cheatsheet guide for Luma3DS + boot9strap CFW setup]. Lost games and saves will have to be restored with whatever backup you made prior to the loss.
5. If the card does NOT pass inspection, you'll need to replace it with real SD card. Shop carefully, check my signature for current deals.

Thank you for the tipps.

Can this happen often? if this happens all the time, i will not even set up all again because it is to much of an hastle ^^'

To be honest, your question is a bit broad. You'll need to determine what was the root cause of your files and titles disappearing. The first suspect is a bad card as this is almost always why data disappears or corrupts unexpectedly for most people. Rarely, your 3DS may derp itself and you may lose a save file or two but never everything. Back up your saves with JKSM or Checkpoint one in a while.

With a proper custom firmware setup and intact hardware such a real SD card and fully functional card reader like what Ryccardo said, no. You shouldn't be losing files except in the case of improper power shut off, unsafe card removal, or SD card death after a long expiration date (thousands of hours of read & write).

Real SD cards can and do come defective from the factory, and there's nothing you can't do about these if you get one that died sooner than expected. What you can protect yourself from is checking your purchased cards for fakes against H2testw.
