Probably one of the simplest questions ever, what's your favorite console startup screen (as long as the console you are talking about has one)? Here are mine:

Mega-CD (Japan/Europe)

You read it right, folks. This is my favorite startup screen of all time. Not only this synth theme composed by Masafumi Ogata is beautiful and charming to listen to, but it's rather entertaining to see the Mega-CD logo in wild action over the background. And speaking of background, the cloud BG in the Japanese Model 1 startup is really impressive, which already makes it my favorite alone.

I know you guys are going to argue that the American Sega CD theme is better, but I'm European, we Europeans got the European Mega-CD so we are used to this theme more. Though USA did get to listen to this theme, with the JVC X'Eye console.

Don't ask me why, this NES add-on came out in Japan only but I'm like totally OBSESSED with it. Every time I start up a Famicom Disk System game in my FCEUX emulator, this screen shows up to remind me that the game I'm going to play is not a simple NES game, it's something completely different. And it gives air of familiarity too.

Which startup screen is your favorite?

I think Japanese Saturn looks the best, but should have had the sound from what the rest of the world got.

PS1 and 2 were also very good.

I'm not a Sony fanboy by any means (never bought a PS4 or PS5), but in my whole existence of gamer, the most memorable startup for me was the OG PlayStation. It was just awesome!

As an eight year old who only had gamed on a master system, that startup blew my little mind until I saw the FMVs and was like wahhhhh.

PS1 and GameCube for sure. Both are simply perfect in what they are going for, which I interpret as high-tech/mysterious and playful, respectively.

But of course there are many other great ones. Good times reading this thread.

GameCube, GBA and GBC. Though if we're counting on board software themes, the original PSX went weirdly hard, like it was pirated software.
