Hello all. Over the past summer I was looking for a game to play on my new PS3. I had discovered Fallout 3. I played it over many times. After a while the game became a little stale since I did most quests in different ways. I looked up the prices for the DLC's and they were about 15$ each. That would mean 60$ (like a brand new game) so since I am lacking in the bank I decided not to get them. Recently on the EBgames website I noticed they were selling the game of the year edition for Fallout 3 at 20$. This game copy includes all the DLC. The thing is I heard negative reviews coming from it saying how buggy and glitch'd it is. So I was wondering. Should I buy it?

The only 2 DLCs that are worth the buy are Broken Steel and Point Lookout. The rest are terrible in my opinion. If you want a giant DLC pack get Fallout New Vegas.

Well I'd say go for it. $20 isn't much of a gamble and it's worth it for Broken Steel and Point Lookout alone and maybe you'll like the other 3 DLCs more than me.

I have the 360 version and havny really seen any glitches
I think the reviews are mainly for when it just came out and it wasnt patched

Biggest problems are when some DLC items are tagged as quest items and thus may affect some of your main games quests (Winter power armor for example). This is present in the PC version too, but not that bad. I'd sell the original version and buy the GOTY. Also go for New Vegas :)

Yeah, but the PC version has user-created patches which fix them too :3

$20 is a lot money to some of us. Personally, I'd spend it on New Vegas rather than Fallout 3.

I'd wait for New Vegas GOTY to come out, personally. I did buy Vegas and all DLCs for 20 bucks during the Black Friday steam sale, but for a PS3 I'd wait.

Also people who complain that FO3 is a terrible game is the original FO and FO2 fans. I haven't played either so I couldn't comment on it but FO3 and New Vegas I've had lots of fun with... and I don't really play games that much.

Also Bethesda is known for buggy shit...always... Skyrim was released with full of bugs just to get it out in 11.11.11 (lol) and that was the case with many other games from Bethesda.

Well compared to Fallout 1&2, Fallout 3 wasn't a terrible game. It was just too different compared to originals. That's why most people call it bad.. Sad really, but that's life. :I

Fallout 3 gets boring pretty quick. Even with DLC

Just get Fallout: New Vegas
Even if it doesn't come with any of its DLCs, the game is huge with a crapton more to do than F3. Plus it's more refined.
They play basically the exact same, but they fixed some stuff and it has a hell of a lot more content.

Couldn't disagree more, F3 was awesome to me with or without the DLC, wheras Fallout New Vegas was terrible, not only a buggy mess but just horrible in many ways.
Could be to do with Bathesda not actually making it.

Guess everyone has their own opinions however checkout metacritic:

Fallout 3:
PS3 - 90
X360 - 93
PC - 91

Fallout New Vegas:
PS3 - 82
X360 - 84
PC - 84

Some people couldn't even finish NV due to glitches and bugs and all the patches just made it more of a mess.

PS3 versions of any Bethesda games are always inferior, including Fallout 3/NV and Skyrim. It has more dropped frames, less details, and a worse draw distance compared to the 360 version (and obviously also the PC version). If you have the option, get it on 360 or PC instead.

Also the whole lagging problem is far more severe on the PS3, it's just not the way to go. (Yes, it happened in Fallout too)

Fallout 3 GOTY on PS3 was god awful. It wasn't the gameplay, but the lag. Once I got to the air base in Broken Steel DLC I couldn't finish the game due to the excessive freezing and slow-downs. It was completely unplayable. Anchorage lagged a lot too but Point Lookout was much better than the others.
