Hardware EZ Flash 3 in 1 help (begginer)

helllo, i have gotten a R4 back in around August and have bought an ezflash 3 in 1. untill now i have realized i needed help.
so my question is to you
Whenever i download a game and i try to save it will not save for me. i heard that i needed to patch it or whatever but i don't know how to patch to make my gba games to save and i am not really sure if i need to patch or not.

i am using a ds lite with a R4 if that helps thanks in advance

is there any way to convert roms for use with the 3-in-1 save system with a mac? cause i just got a 3-in-1 and it's useless to me if not.

also i heard somewhere you can delete the image that borders the screen in the gba loader. i can't figure this out. how do you do it? what file to delete? thanks.
