Why do you have to be vague about the error

That's like calling the help desk and saying "my computer isn't working"

What error did you get?

with UnrarX I got "
<file name> is not RAR archive

No files to extract"

with Unarchiver I get "could not extract <file name> from the archive <file name> . The archive is incomplete"

I could see if I got this error ONCE....but every time I have tried and other people were saying update WinRar...well, WinRar on Mac is command line only and old...

I'm not sure if this is allowed, if not, just close thread. I'm not going to say where I got my hands on a BBB release, but i'm on a Mac and every time I try to extract a BBB release, I get an error...i've tried UnrarX and Unarchiver....
What the fuck?
  1. What is an "RCI" file?
  2. You can't just unzip Switch roms using standard tools.
  3. Is it really that hard to dump your own ROMs? Why the need for piracy?
  4. I can't believe I'm actually helping with this... but use hactool with WINE.

#1 I meant XCI, not RCI...don't know why I was thinking RCI
#2 I got it to work with WinZip for Mac (it extracted the file file, won't know if it works until there is a "back-up" loader released)
#3 dumping own ROMs/"personal back-ups" is a BS claim that people use to not pirate, even Nintendo's own website says this about their games
#4 I got it working already, by the time I got it working, this forum went under maintenance so this thread can be closed

I dump all of my games. Don't you dare call it a "BS claim", because unless you don't own a Switch, it's fucking easy to dump stuff.

I'm not saying you don't back-up your own games, but people often say it's okay to back-up your personal games and think that because they own the games that it's not illegal. However, according to Nintendo's legal page, having a "back up copy" is still against their rules. Which really, if you are going to violate their terms by having a back-up, you might as well just download the game off the internet. I did that with games I owned on older consoles...For the most part, I didn't know how to back-up my games and often times, it was easier for me to just download the game off the internet than it was for me to rip my own games because I already knew what to do with those image files....All the games I have on Switch physically are already dumped by BBB, so I have no reason to dump them since they are already available online.
