ALWAYS have a working backup. No matter the circumstances. The last thing you want is a 300€ paperweight

Yes! Make backup of working Nand. Get hekate and backup BOOT and RAW NAND. Backup them both.

I read about Hekate but how do i install it and run it please?
Thanks
download hekate_ctcaer_3.2.bin file and put it on the root of your microsd
https://github.com/CTCaer/hekate/releases/tag/v3.2
boot to sx menu by holding Vol+ and push Power 1 time and continue to hold Vol+ until sx menu appears, go to options and choose external payload, choose hekate_ctcaer_3.2.bin

use Vol- to move Down, use Vol+ to move Up, use Power to execute
more info here

note: backup + verify takes around 70 mins, more or less might depend on the speed of your microsd

I am in this boat, where I've been using SX OS for homebrew/emulatgors, never played a backup of anything, and havent pirated any Switch games or anything. Currently not banned. Is it too late to backup?

To prevent yourself from getting banned? Yes. To save yourself from a brick? BACKUP THE NAND NOW! Seriously, the last thing you want is a $300 paperweight, this cannot be stressed enough.

This post finally pushed me over to doing the backup. I've been putting it off since I wasn't exactly sure how to do it, but I don't want to risk losing my Switch.

Backed up my NAND first thing when I got home today
For anyone curious about the steps with the SX dongle, I downloaded the latest Hekate, put it on my SD card, booted into the SX OS menu and chose Options > Boot external payload, it saw the Hekate file and booted right into it.

I wish i'd found this thred before I tried to backup my NAND the other day. I followed another tutorial that told me to backup the 2.50GB SYS, and 21.9GB rawnand.bin (option 1) and the biskeys, and then I was done if the Hak tool said it was a good backup. Now I need to restore a bricked switch and have been told it won't be possible as I didn't dump the 2 boot files. Is my switch salvageable?

hello all
sorry if i am hijacking this thread. i have an sx pro running sx os 2.0.1 my switch is ofw 4.1.0. i have been reading and watching videos of nand backup.
They state that a raw nand backup should take around 90 minutes to make but i have my switch on for 1 day and it has only reached 22%. my sd card is fat32 as i can't use exfat.
I have also tried using hekate but i can't get a full dump as the battery dies. am i doing anything wrong?
thanks for your thoughts.
