Anyone know where I can order an EWIN2 Micro shipped cheaply to the UK?

Ulavshop has it at a not too unreasonable $34 (30% markup on 200 Yuan) which I can accept, but with shipping at $20 it makes it almost as expensive as a Supercard Lite.

I see Just a heads up, I see that Linker4U has them instock for $40 but I don't know how much shipping is.

Kinda sucks that it sticks out of the DS Lite though... if you don't mind it sticking out then surely it's better to get something like a Supercard Mini-SD, as Mini-SD is cheaper than Micro-SD.

Anyone know what compatibility is like for the EWIN2?

Their shipping is also $20, plus they sell the Supercard Lite for only $3 more than the EWIN2 so they are really marking up the price.

www.bamboogaming.com looks like the best option if you want to import an EWIN2 micro - around $32 plus shipping is under $10.

If you're looking to import the SCL cheaply to the UK, then I'd also say that bamboogaming seem the best price - comes to about 30GBP inc. shipping. However I have never used them myself, and I see that they do not include packaging with the order 'in order to keep the shipment as small as possible' so if you really care about the cardboard box they won't be any use to you.

I believe it's pretty decent (they said 100% at release, but I know it had a problem with Starfox like other cards) although I haven't been able to find out details about slowdown/glitches with it, and a speed comparison with SCL to see how it compares using different SD micro media would be very useful. Without that info, and the fact that SCL appears to do so well even with standard SD micro cards I would have to say it isn't worth the risk of ordering the EWIN2 unless you find it very close to the actual Chinese price of about $25.

Also, if you weren't aware it cannot play GBA roms at all. And although the software is apparently in English as well as Chinese, support is only in Chinese so you could also have trouble if you run into problems with it.

What I like about it is that although it sticks out they've designed it so that it blends in very well with the unit (imho, and from viewing pictures alone). The coloured shells also are apparently a very close match, and as I have a navy lite one of the main things putting me off an SCL is the colour as I'd like it to look decent (black is coming out soon, but it could be a while/never for a navy). Also, if I were to buy another DSL (which I'm considering) I could simply change the shell over with the EWIN2.

Anyway, currently I am waiting to see what the M3 micro is like, and if it is actually going to be anything like the mockup pictures they released last week with the same compatibility as other M3 products (which I've not used - only have a SC SD) and released in multiple colours then it could be a clear winner.

Hi, first time poster, been a reader for a while;
I found some great posts, valuable opinions from here, thanks.
biggrin.gif

I think Ewin2 is a promising product for the cart market.

I have been using carts from generation to generations,
and have seen lot of products come and go, and the built quality
of EWIN2 just by far one of the best from what I have seen.

Start from the plastic shell of EWIN2.

The designer actually put thoughts into plastic molding, durability,
and functionality. EWIN2 MICRO even used a spray painting technique
to match the original NDSL painting.

The label design is sweet, and the PCB design looks neat and clean.
bow.gif

The compatibility of EWIN2 is very nice; it actually does a good job since its debut.
Although it occasionally had glitches with new ones, but new updates usually will be released soon.

(The same situation happened to all other carts, no one is free from updates,
unless they design a new card that access data from DS port,
which many companies are already starting their homework…)

Another issue is that, all current EWIN2 versions are not supporting GBA.
If you really need GBA feature, you don’t want to buy them now;
you might want to wait for newer versions of EWIN2.

Any how, EWIN2 is designing their new products, which will be released in about a month,
and there will be GBA compatible versions available
(same PCB with current EWIN2s, but has a new chip solder on the back)

The MICRO version will be updated with a perfect fit design,
just like the original dummy cart for NDSL.

Moonshell compatibility is under construction and will soon be release by the original programmer.

The tool of EWIN2 is using English as default language, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Yet, this tool is installation-free; you can run it even from your desktop folder.

It has both text menu and icon+text menu,
which means you are going to see the icon of roms on your screen,
kind of like G6L.

EWIN2 doesn’t have a good marketing strategy,
and that’s why it is hard to find them around. Most of online shops don’t carry EWIN2,
except bamboo and Linker4U.

I am very anxious to see the new version of non-stick out EWIN2 MICRO.
It will come out with GBA feature in the end of this month, hope it will look fine and all that.

Photoshopped M3L official pictures had also been released,
(Yes, it is, period. And it was after Super Card Lite’s release.
Check out the back view of the ice-blue version from the M3L official photo release,
pay close attention to the intersection area of both micro SD and battery.
If you don’t see what many others are already figured out, you need a pair of new glasses.)

I also would like to see what’s cooking by GBAalpha lately. Hope they will keep their promise;
they have been using this business practice to disturb other product many times and very good at it.
It’s kind of cheesy. And this time, with a photoshopped picture.

Yeah does sound like a bit of promotion, but any information *in English* is very welcome.. some interesting news regarding a flush EWIN2 micro and GBA support.

Based on pictures I completely agree regarding the effort put into design and making the micro card fit the colour/style of the DSL. But also as said the marketing for the product is very weak - it would seem that it isn't really intended for a non-Chinese market even if the software is in English.
One of the key selling points of the card is that it is cheap/a cheap alternative to Supercard (which itself is considered cheap), but the markup we see for importing makes it not worth the bother when you can spend a few dollars more and get an SCL which is tried and tested.

Anyway, thanks for your post midigear. As you seem to have a good knowledge of the EWIN2, would you be able to tell us how the performance compares to an SCL when using a standard SD micro (not ultra/fast speed) if you have tried them both.

Sorry to sounded too much like a promoter of EWIN, but honestly,
I am not from EWIN and have no connection with EWIN or what so ever.
wink.gif

The information that I provided on my earlier post was just simply a sum up
from reviews and hands on experience from Asian user community.

All those information are basically common knowledge for everyone out there.
But some how, I sounded like I know too much about EWIN2 over here.
blink.gif

Well, it’s all about the fact that I understand 3 different languages,
therefore I can get the first hand information from both Chinese and Japanese
flash circle, usually in minutes after the news come out.
shy.gif

There are more pictures and review articles of EINW2 available over there,
including the power consumption, compatibility, and over all performance of EWIN2.

I wouldn’t say EWIN2 is going to take over the scene or anything like that,
it just that, the information here are mainly focused on GBAalpha and SC,
I thought it is a good thing to cover other great products available out there.

Another story, for your information, GBALINK will release their first DS SLOT1 flash card
on 20th of August. This card takes Micro SD, and it is the same size with original DS card.

The forums in Asia are basically boiling for DS-LINK right at this moment.
This product is too revolutionary that I almost wet my pants after I heard this news last night.
cry.gif

Here is the look of DS-LINK.

DS-LINK Official site photo release

DS-LINK UI

I am not working for any flash company nor interested to work for them, so stop guessing.
I am just simply passing on some information for people who are interested.

EWIN2 is a great product for both quality and cost/performance.
The price is lower than SC, and compatibility is above expectation.
But if you are looking for an ultimate solution, DS-LINK is worth waiting,
just in about 2 weeks, you are going to see news about DS-LINK flood in.

This is a milestone product to end the PASSME and SLOT2 (GBA slot) era.

(After I posted this one: I found another post here with DSLINK news, great!)

Nice video. From what I can see:

Pros:
- Springloaded MicroSD slot (unlike EZFlash IV Lite and Supercard Lite)
- Initial menu quick to load with no splash screen
- Games launch fast if it's the same game you played last time

Cons:
- Sticks out of DS Lite. It looks particularly bad having the two screwheads visible
- Games launch slowly if it's a different game from last time, as it has to copy the save game (although most carts are like this I believe)

Overall, looks not bad.

Found a video of the Ewin2 Micro in action.

Thanks. It would have been useful if he would have showed ACWW (and what memory card was being used).. the writing of the save file looked real slow (is it the same speed with M3/G6/EZ4?.. I've only used SC which doesn't save like that).

It also looks like cheapmod.net is a reasonable alternative for UK buyers - 26GBP delivered in the UK.
I guess there is the usual markup added by UK resellers (compared to bamboogaming who's price comes to 20GBP shipped to the UK), but it's still a cheaper option to importing from other HK online shops. I guess as the SCL is priced at 36GBP here its still a decent saving if you're after the cheapest option. I've bought from Cheapmod before, so they should also be pretty good if you have a problem.

But I guess everybody is holding off for the DSLink now!

From the video, looks like the longest part of changing games will be the saving/loading of games. But then again, he loaded Tomagochi (sp? whatever) which is a fairly small DS game, right? Hrm...

Looking at it, games load very fast, it's only transferring a save state from eprom to memory card and memory card to eprom that is slower.

If you play the same game then it's extremely fast, looking at how quickly mario loads at the start of the vid.

I've got one on order anyway

so I'll let you know.

Dog.

Thanks for the video Digger! Very nice.

In about few weeks, EWIN2 will release their GBA compatible product line,
and the MICRO SD version will be updated with a flush new design; there won't be any stick out
or anything, I am looking forward to it.

Wow, from that news about the updated Flush design, I'm sold. Well, I might wait awhile after they announce they'll officially support English. It's frustrating and awesome at the same time that we now have alot of carts to choose from.

EWIN2’s tool kit and DS menu is default by English,
and you can switch to other languages if you want to.
It is free of installation, a plus.

You can see rom icons from your EWIN2 menu screen too.

I just went to EWIN forum, and the admin said that they will release black version for EWIN2 MICRO,
therefore I am guessing they might release pink in the future too.

Some more pictures here:

I hope. You see G6 lite eventually got Black cases too but never got Pink. I mean, I'm not the only one who bought a Noble Pink DS lite, right?

It just a color, why should we care? Pink is perfectly fine! it's all good.
smile.gif

Just like orange and green, white and black, just a color from the spectrum.

Say, if I am yellow, does that mean I must know some Kung-Fu?
Or if I show my hatred towards pink color, do I sound more macho?
therefore I must not be gay?
rofl2.gif

(FYI, In my country (Canada), gay people get equal rights,
they can get marry too, and we are totally cool about that, except some red-necks)

I think Japanese market care less about this kind of stereotype,
which is a very mature attitude.

I don’t mind at all if someone wants to give me a pink DS Lite for free though.
