Trying to weigh costs/benefits before I jump in.

EmuNAND: run 9.4.0, Play EVERYTHING, Access eShop, sysNAND untouched = no bricking, requires Gateway

CFW: run 4.5, no Gateway needed, messing with sysNAND is dangerous, can't play games past 4.5 FW, save files from before downgrade can't be played due to 6.X+ encryption (goodbye ACNL town).

    Anything I'm missing here/got wrong?

Don't think you're missing anything except the fact that the CFW runs an emunand as well.

Oh and that it's buggy as hell and you're lucky if it boots 1/5 times. haha

I don't have a gateway (Planning to get one soon) is there anyone here that verified that CFW works without a gateway or any other flashcard?

I think Custom Firmware. Probably something like the PSP.

gateway seems pretty safe, as long as you don't mess up with the sysnand (you shouldn't and there is forced backup if you wanted to downgrade anyway)
