So I'm on file based emummc was wondering how to switch to partition based I heard it is a bit faster. I don't know the validation of that but figured Id check it out. Moving it to a new sd card so was wondering if I made the partition on that new sd card then just move my old files from my old sd card and that would work. Or is there anything else I would have to do.

I had problems with a laggy/freezing home menu when I had it set up as partition based on my old sd card. My new SD card is set up as file based and I had no problems so far. It's not worth it and less flexible in my opinion but maybe it was just a sketchy old sd card.

File based is way easier to manage when changing SD cards, so also there's that.
The speed difference is negligible, but is there.
For me, the file based approach is better.

File based is easier to manage if you want to move the emunand to another SD but you can also convert a hidden partition to file based and then move it then convert it back to hidden partition.
