Hi there,

I'm new in this homebrew scene, sorry if I am asking something already well known.

I own a WiiU and I figured out how to install homebrew, USB loader GX and I can play Wii isos perfectly. However, is not clear for me how to install and use emulators (SNES, N64, and stuff) because everything I've found on the internet is made for the original Wii, and I've read some stuff saying that it could brick vWii (something related with .wad format, but I definitely do not know what kind of format is that).

So my question is, ¿what emulators do you know that are safe and you recommend for vWii?

Thanks.

look for vwii wads (emulators) or try using an emulator through the homebrew channel that way nothing is installed. or try out wiiflow that has a plugins pack to use all emulators available

also have a look at *forwarders are back* forum. the vwii wads are all there

If you can play wii isos perfectly, you are already in the safe zone. It means you have the cIOS you need (those are apparently a bit different between wii and vwii).

My advice is: just try out the emulators. They come in .dol files, so can be run from the homebrew channel in a very similar way as USB loader GX (in fact, emulators are nothing more than another kind of homebrew). At worst, they simply crash so you'll have to restart your wiiu the hard way. But from what I hear, these emulators work just as well on vwii as on the wii (not better, but not worse either).

I'll leave it to others to give suggestions, though...I haven't hacked my wiiu so I don't want to give wrong advise...

RetroArch is a solid emulator, it contains many systems or "cores" for Super Nintendo, Genesis, NES, GBA and many others, very solid and one of the best for the Wii!

hi.
